I cannot believe that school will be starting in just a few weeks here. I’m definitely not ready for the summer to be over. I’ve so enjoyed the relaxed schedule, days at the pool and time with family and friends. But the school year is going to start whether I want it to or not, so I’ve been thinking about ideas for fun lunches that I can send with my daughter.
Last year she opened her princess box to find a PB sandwich, a juice box, fruit snacks, and a yogurt…everyday. She was sweet and didn’t complain about it, but this time around, I’m determined to mix things up a little and allow her to try some new, healthy foods that look fun and appealing. Pinterest is so inspiring.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you keep your kids excited about eating lunch while they’re at school. It’s definitely an everyday battle at our house. My daughter is super picky and it takes a lot to get her to eat her whole lunch-especially when I’m not around to encourage her. But I think there’s quite a few things here that she’d be willing to try-especially when presented in a creative, colorful layout.
I’d never heard of a Bento box before, but apparently it’s a compartmentalized container that allows for separating food items. You’ll see quite a few of them below.

Dolphin Shape Cutter Sandwiches lunch from Lisa Storms. The idea is so versatile too. You really can create whatever shape you want with a sandwich and some inexpensive cookie cutters.
