Popcorn and Candy on the Cob Fall Treat

I don't know a single person who doesn't love corn on the cob, so I put together a cute and sweet fall treat that resembles the vegetable version...this Popcorn on the Cob!

These would be so great at Halloween parties, as decorations on the kids' Thanksgiving table, or as a classroom fall snack!  There are so many occasions for it, and you know they'll be a huge hit with the young and the old.

It's basically candy popcorn that's molded into the shape of a cob.  So fun!

Ahhhh...I remember well the days of harvesting the corn.  My dad and brothers picked it from our large garden while my mom and I cut it off the cob, bagged and prepared it for freezing so we could enjoy it throughout the winter months.  I miss that sweet, fresh-tasting corn.
But enough reminiscing....let's get back to today's yummy dessert.

I saw the idea in a Martha Stewart Living Magazine and gave it a fun spin.  I thought instead of Indian Corn, that it would be neat to make the popcorn yellow like real corn and then add in some M&M's to color and flavor the mix even more.  I also used some basic, easy-to-find brown paper lunch bags for the shucks/husks.
I know my kids always love individual snacks, especially when they're as darling as this Popcorn on the Cob! I appreciate that they're handheld, but not messy, because the paper holds it all in.  :)
Look at all that ooey gooey marshmallow-y popcorn goodness!
Bring a bushel of them to Thanksgiving dinner and the crowds will swarm!

Before making your popcorn mix, prepare about 10 brown paper bags to act as the "shucks".
Cut along the crease to remove the bottom of the bag.
You'll be left with this.
Now turn the bag, open it, and snip up the middle of one layer.
You can see the cut line down the middle here.
Now fold it in half hot dog style.
Cut up to the middle on both sides of one end so it comes to a point.
Now unfold the bag.  It will have accordion-style creases.

Makes about 10

12 c. popped popcorn
1/4 c. (1/2 square) salted butter
1 10-oz. bag mini white marshmallows
1 1/2 c. yellow candy melts
3/4 c. M&M's (or as much as desired)

Pop popcorn.  In a large pot over medium heat, melt butter, stirring constantly.  Add in marshmallows and candy melts.  Stir vigorously over heat until marshmallows and candy melts are melted and mixture is smooth.  Pour over popcorn and carefully toss/mix to coat.  Let cool for about a minute, then add M&M's and toss.

Mold popcorn into cob shapes and place on wax paper until ready to wrap.
Set your candy popcorn, that's been molded into a cob shape, on one end, leaving a few inches at the bottom, and making sure it peeks out the top a bit.  Roll.
Twist the end to secure.
Fold down your bag/husk a bit to reveal the goodies inside.  Now you've got a fun little popcorn and candy on the cob!

I hope you enjoy this fun fall treat!
