I’m partnering with GoDaddy to share my tips and tricks on how entrepreneurs can thrive during this period of uncertainty. #OpenWeStand #GoDaddyPartner
It’s been quite a few months since the world seemed to turn upside down. Nothing is “normal” and the only thing constant is change. Instead of making excuses or allowing it to halt my progress in my business, I’m choosing every day to press forward and thrive!
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my seven plus years of blogging, it’s that I can’t remain stagnant and expect to succeed. The world is constantly changing and so are people’s needs. Not to mention the constant revamps happening on social media platforms. On many occasion, I’ve had to shift my focus and adapt to the times. I’ve never been one who gets excited about change, but I can honestly say that it keeps things really interesting as I continue to share recipes with you!
Here are some questions to ask yourself to help pivot your business through challenging times:
How can I be a resource or support to others through these unprecedented times?
Chances are, you have something to offer that others need right now. In my specific blogging niche, I can continue providing families with ways to connect through delicious food and to do that in a budget-friendly way. I can provide encouragement and inspiration when my followers are struggling to feel motivated to cook or to come up with meal ideas.
What is my motivation or reason for doing what I do?
When times are uncertain and what I have been doing doesn’t seem to be working anymore, I always have to go back to the “why”. I started this blog years ago with the desire to bring families together through simple, yummy recipes. I’m passionate about sharing easy meal ideas and phenomenal desserts because food is supposed to be enjoyed! Food helps us make memories and connections that last a life time. I love helping others to catch that vision too.
My advice is to really hone in on the “why” of what makes you get up every day and do what you do.
What different approach can I take to adapt to the circumstances and still achieve my goals?
Take the time to understand what people are experiencing, what their needs are, and how you can best fulfill them. For me, that means trying to build a better relationship with my audience on social media, being real and relatable so they feel comfortable opening up to me about what their concerns and needs are.
Rather than trying to guess, simply outright ask what their stumbling blocks are and what could make things easier for them. For example, I’ve posted polls on what challenges my followers face when it comes to making dinner. What prevents them from preparing meals for their families and what could make it less stressful or difficult? Now, instead of just posting random (albeit delicious) recipes, I’m trying to focus more on making meal prep easier for everyone. Hello skillet meals and casseroles!
What unique abilities, perspective, advice, traits, etc. do I have to offer?
Your unique life experiences, background and talents allow you to help others in a remarkable way!
What am I doing today to move closer to my goals and make tomorrow better?
Even baby steps in the right direction count as progress! Your future is greatly impacted by choices made today. Choose to be productive, stay positive, to make connections and set yourself up for a brighter tomorrow. Just keep moving forward!
Over the past few months, I’ve tried to find examples of others in my industry who are thriving through these challenging times. I’m taking their advice and doing my best to apply it as it relates to my business.
Here are a few words of wisdom that have made an impression on me lately:
Don’t let fear of failure or feelings of inadequacy keep you from achieving your goals.
Get comfortable being uncomfortable.
Be willing to make sacrifices for your future.
Enjoy the journey and don’t forget to reflect on how far you’ve come!
