Call the kids over and head outside for a game of balloon dart charades! Once popped, the balloons will reveal a paper prompt for the kids to act out for the other players to guess. So much fun! And don’t forget the snacks! Goldfish® crackers from Walmart will put smiles on everyone’s faces!
The weather has been so finicky here lately! One day it’s cold, windy and snowing and the next it’s cloudless and sunny! So the kids and their friends and I took full advantage of a beautiful day the other day and went outdoors to enjoy some sunshine. I’m a total fan of unstructured play time and we do that more often than not, but the kids always get excited when I plan something extra special for them to do.
So I surprised them with a game of Balloon Dart Charades and some tasty Goldfish® crackers for snacks. It couldn’t have been a more perfect afternoon!
We’ve all had a serious case of cabin fever after a long winter being confined inside the house. Living in the mountains is amazing, but let’s just say we love when the snow melts and the flowers start blooming again! That’s what makes springtime so exciting! New opportunities to get out and have an adventure under the warm sun!
I decided to combine two fun games into one…darts and charades, and it turned out to be a huge hit with the kids.
Here’s what you’ll need to put this game together:
-Balloons
-A scrap piece of wood or large piece of heavy cardboard
-Darts (I used the kind with plastic tips)
-A set of paper prompts (one for each balloon) telling the kids what to act out (I used things like animals, bugs, professions, and action verbs).
How to set it all up: Insert one word slip into each balloon (you may need to fold it up pretty small). Blow up, tie, and attach each balloon with tape to the board. I used a total of 16 balloons-four across and four down. How many you have will depend on the size of your board.
How to play: Let the kids take turns throwing darts at the balloons. If they happen to pop one, they get to act out the word found inside the balloon and the other kids get to guess.
There were lots of laughs to go around, especially when the kids got to pretend to be a cheetah or a caterpillar. 🙂
The afternoon just wouldn’t have been complete without some Goldfish® crackers! The Snack That Smiles Back®.
I stocked up at Walmart where I was elated to find that one of our all-time favorite foods was on Rollback! I also grabbed the supplies for today’s fun Balloon Dart Charades game. I love a one-stop shopping trip!
We love to include active play as part of our daily routine, and the kids always expect a snack afterwards. 🙂 I guess all that exercise makes them hungry. Hey, I’m not going to contest that!
So I set up a simple Goldfish® crackers station with individual snack cups so the kids could help themselves throughout the game. My kids’ favorite are the Xtra Cheddar, because more cheese is always a good idea. 🙂
This game is so easy to put together and a great way to make memories and spark smiles with the kids!
