Easter is coming! These bars are dense and super chocolatey with colorful candies on top that were left in the Easter bunny’s tracks!
We are getting so excited for Easter at our house. It lands on the kids’ spring break, so that makes it even better! We always have an egg hunt with friends at our house and a picnic afterwards. The kids of course get too much candy.
And then we have a special dinner on Easter Sunday, which in some form or another always involves Carrot Cake for dessert. Who knows, maybe this year we’ll enjoy it with these individual Carrot Cake Trifles.
If there’s one trail I’d like to follow it’s the Easter bunny’s! I imagine it would be scattered with colorful treats galore that had dropped out of his basket as he hopped happily along the path.
When it comes to Easter candy, the chocolate variety is what tempts me the most! But then that’s probably no news to you, if you’re a regular reader here. I can’t stop with the Cadbury Eggs! I break open the bag and before I know it, it’s gone. And then I can’t even blame the kids even partially, because I’m very good about hoarding and hiding my stash. 🙂
The pastel colored treats get me every time! So I knew I just had to incorporate them into a delicious dessert bar that’s all dressed up for Easter! These homemade chocolate bars are a cross between a cookie and a brownie. Which is the best combo out there, in my book! Would you agree? These Easter Style Rocky Road Brownies are a most-requested treat this time of year! But when I’m craving a little more than a brownie has to offer, I take it to the next level by pressing Easter candy on top, and the result is an absolute chocolate-lover’s dream!
Bunny Tracks Bars
Ingredients
- 1 c. 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1 c. light brown sugar packed
- 1 pkg 3.9 oz. chocolate instant pudding and pie filling (dry, unprepared)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1/4 c. baking cocoa
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- Colorful chocolate Easter candies for topping I used Sixlets and mini Cadbury Eggs and mini Reese's
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Â Prepare a 9x13 pan by lining with parchment paper or lightly spraying with cooking spray. Â Cream together butter, brown sugar, pudding packet, eggs, and vanilla until mixture turns light in color. Â In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Â Add flour mixture to wet mixture and mix until combined.
- Press mixture into prepared pan, press candies on top (I cut my mini Reese's pb cups into fourths). Bake for 14-15 minutes. Don't overbake or they'll loose their perfect fudge texture! Let cool, then slice into squares and serve.
Kids and adults go wild for these Bunny Tracks Bars! They’re sure to make a fun and festive addition to all your Easter celebrations! I hope these become a tradition at your house, like they are at ours!
