The kids will be so excited to come home from school to see these Butterfly Trail Mix Snacks waiting for them! These are also a fun surprise to add to lunch boxes!
My kids have been in school for about a month now. It’s nice to be settled into a new routine, even if it is a busy one. After that final bell rings and they’ve been pouring over books all day, they come home tired and very hungry!
We have a rule that the kids need to get their homework done as soon as possible after walking through the door and then they are free to play the rest of the evening. So they’re pretty good about cranking out their math and spelling practice at the counter while they enjoy a quick bite to eat.
Without a doubt, one of the most-requested snack foods at our house are Welch’s Fruit Snacks. I feel good about handing them to my kids because they are not only so yummy, but fruit is their first ingredient!
Plus, they have 100% of the daily value of Vitamin C and 25% daily value of Vitamins A & E. So many things to love about them!
Sometimes I try to earn brownie points, or “coolest mom on the block” status by surprising the kids with something special at snack time. I miss them when they’re at school and it’s the little things that count! And, I’ll do pretty much anything to see them smile. 🙂
And, speaking of smiling, I can’t help but grin when every day the kids come home and I ask them what their favorite part about their day was. Do you want to guess what the answer always is?
Yep! Recess!
I remember giving my mom the same response. Some things never change! 🙂
But the one thing that always baffles me is when I try to get a little glimpse into what their schedule looked like by carefully crafting a question such as, “So, what did you learn today that was new and exciting?”
Without fail, my children sit there with a blank look on their face for what seems like an eternity, and then quickly blurt out a “nothing!” while running off to play. As if they couldn’t think of a single new bit of information they gleaned during their six hour day. It blows my mind. Haha!
Well, unlike trying to get information out of my children, these cute Butterfly Snack Bags are not complicated in the least and will make the kids squeal with delight! I filled them with a satisfying trail mix that included mixed nuts, O’s cereal, pretzels, and of course Welch’s Fruit Snacks! It was no surprise that the Welch’s Fruit Snacks were the first to disappear. 🙂
To make them, I simply painted some large wooden clothespins in bright colors, then drew on little faces with permanent marker after they dried. Then I added the trail mix to the re-sealable sandwich bags (you can also use snack-sized bags with smaller clothespins), sealed them up and clipped the clothespin in the center. I told you it was easy peasy!
The kids won’t soon forget this fun snack time! Welch’s Fruit Snacks make for very happy faces!
