Thank you, Chocoley.com, for providing the ingredients for today’s delicious recipe. As always, all opinions are my own.
These hand crafted Chocolate Mint Truffles are perfect for holiday gifts and party platters!
Every year I look forward to putting together Christmas goodie plates for neighbors and friends. I devote one or two full days to baking the yummy confections. I enjoy donning my elf apron and blasting Christmas carols while becoming a slave to the kitchen. It truly is a labor of love. Every year I include a few of the same, best-loved desserts like homemade Oreo Sandwich Cookies and fudge. And every year I like to add in a new treat or two just for kicks.
This time around, I will definitely be including these Chocolate Mint Truffles (y’all know how I love my chocolate) and I know they will get gobbled up! As it is, it’s hard enough for me not to pop a few or ten in my mouth while preparing them. 🙂
I’ve always believed that mint and chocolate are two flavors that were meant to be married. So I jump fully on board with pretty much any dessert that involves them. Make it a truffle, and I’m ALL in, no questions asked!
I love that I can make them from the comfort of my own home with quality chocolate, whenever I want! And they look so impressive and professional!
Oooh la la!
These would look so pretty all wrapped up in holiday printed cellophane and tied with a bow. The green drizzle perfectly offsets the gorgeous brown chocolate coating.
I found all my supplies at Chocoley.com.
For this particular recipe I used:
{CHOCOLATE MINT TRUFFLES}
Makes approximately 17 1″ truffles
8 oz. dark chocolate candy and molding formula
1/4 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. mint extract, or to taste
8 oz. milk chocolate dipping and coating formula
White Drizzle and Design Chocolate colored with green coloring oil
Tip: I prefer to work in small batches when making chocolates. It’s much more manageable that way. The truffle insides warm quickly when out of the fridge, so the results are better when making just a few at a time. If the truffle balls get too warm to work with during the process, put them in the refrigerator for a few minutes and then try again.
Start by melting your dark chocolate with your evaporated milk. I used the microwave method and it worked just fine, but a double broiler is preferred. Stir in mint extract to taste. Refrigerate chocolate just until it’s soft set and ready to form into balls. Don’t allow it to set too much or it will detrimentally affect the texture and taste of the finished product. Form chocolate into 1″ balls and place on a wax paper lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate chocolate balls for at least an hour, or freeze for 15 minutes until they’re firm enough to stay together when dipped.
Melt milk chocolate and coat truffles in it. The outer coating of chocolate will set quickly since the truffle center is cold. Prepare drizzling chocolate by placing the bottle with the cap on in a bowl of hot water until the chocolate inside is melted. Open lid and add in green oil coloring a little at a time, stirring mixture with a butter knife, until desired color is reached. Drizzle on truffles.
Store at room temperature in a sealed container, not in the fridge, as the fridge can cause condensation and cracking.
Aren’t they gorgeous? My neighbor friends are about to love me even more! 🙂
These gourmet handmade truffles are absolutely incredible! I have a feeling they will be making a regular appearance on my holiday goodie plates!
Is chocolate making a part of your holiday traditions? It certainly is for me!
