Until a little bit ago, we were a two bathroom house. So we made the tough decision to give up precious closet space and turn it into a small bathroom with a toilet.
Here’s what it looked like before. This area is in the back of our laundry room. We went back and forth for a bit before making this decision because closet space is scarce in our house. But we were able to move the coats over to the left of what’s shown in the photo, where we have a little nook. We removed the shelf and rod and I painted the floor to match the rest of the laundry room. The paint is just a temporary solution to get rid of the pink floor, but we will be replacing the flooring in the future when we’ve got the budget for it. As you can see, there’s already a sink in the laundry room, which was great, because we didn’t really have space to add a sink in the toilet room. π
The cedar planked walls were already there and I love that they’re exposed and in the spotlight now! They’re so beautiful. Our home was built back in the 50’s and it was more common then to build cedar closets to keep the moths out.
It may be a tiny space, but we’ve got another toilet, and I’m so happy about it! This is a perfect little guest powder room and extra toilet while the bathrooms with showers are in use. Trust me, it happens often when the two bathrooms are occupied and someone desperately has to go. π
I bought a bronze metal trash can and bronze toilet paper holder with build-in storage for extra rolls.
Now we’re a 2.5 bathroom house! We hope this will be our forever home, but if we ever do move, this little upgrade will increase the sell-ability for sure!
