Keep on track with those New Year’s fitness resolutions with this Popsicle Stick Daily Workout System! Plus, my new favorite way to eat right with the help of Campbell’s Well Yes!™ Soup from Walmart!
I vowed on January 1st to get in shape and make better food choices…pretty typical, right? It’s the same every year, but this time, I’m determined to stick with it!
So far I’m off to a good start. I exercise 30 minutes a day at least 5 days a week. I’ve found that if I do it in the morning, first thing after taking the kids to school, then I don’t let myself off the hook as easily and there are fewer distractions. For me, in order to make something like working out a habit, I have to do it the same time every day.
I also have more energy in the morning, so it makes sense to check that box while I’m feeling exuberant! 🙂
I’m focusing on my willpower with both food and exercise and it’s really influencing my results for the better. Yes, there are always those days mid exercise routine when I want to give up, lie down on the floor and cry (or die). And, there are many moments when I want to eat all the chocolate in sight. But when I push through the mental blocks and obstacles I find I can do hard things!
There are a few “enablers” I’ve set in place that are helping me on my way to achieving my goals. One is the new Campbell’s Well Yes!™ Soup and the other is a simple daily workout prompts system that I recently made with some large popsicle sticks, mason jars and some other common supplies.
We’ll get to the craft shortly, but first I want to tell you about this amazing soup! I knew once I saw the Tomato Carrot Bisque that it needed to be the first variety that I tried. It contains a touch of cream, it’s vegetarian (includes 2 cups vegetables) and has a non-BPA lining. I was seriously licking my lips (and practically the bowl) afterwards!
I also had to grab some Roasted Chicken Wild Rice Soup, Italian Vegetables with Farro Soup, and Hearty Tomato with Toasted Barley Soup. These are a delicious mealtime solution!
They’re all made with nutritious ingredients, and contain no artificial colors, flavors or ingredients. Each can of soup is two servings and is a perfect companion to any salad, sandwich, or what have you.
Campbell’s Well Yes!™ Soup is available at Walmart at an always low price. Be on the lookout for a coupon for Campbell’s Well Yes!™ Soup that will be available in Sunday papers on 2/12 & 3/12, plus in store demos 2/16-2/19! I love saving money on my favorite food items, don’t you?!
In keeping with my New Year’s resolution I try to eat satisfying, smart meals that will tide me over until the next one and prevent me from over-snacking in between. I also need something that will sit with me for awhile, because when I exercise I tend to be more hungry than usual. This soup really hits the spot!
And speaking of exercise, I’m obsessed with my new, colorful popsicle stick workout system! It’s a brilliant way to keep track of my workouts each day of the week and ensure that I cover all my bases!
Each morning, I select a stick that dictates which type of exercise I will do or which muscle group I’ll focus on. Afterwards, I place the stick in the “Done” jar. Think of it as a big pat on the back. 🙂
Here’s how to make it (it’s so easy!):
You’ll need some acrylic paint in lots of colors
Large Popsicle Sticks (tongue depressors)
Foam brushes
Fine-tipped permanent marker
2 small mason jars
Sticker labels or vinyl and craft cutting machine
Paint half of each popsicle stick and allow it to dry. Label your jars-one with “Done” and one with “Daily Workouts”. I used my vinyl cutter. You could also just write on sticker labels and place them on the jars. Lastly, label your sticks on top of the paint. Now you’re ready to go!
Here are some ideas, but feel free to personalize your popsicle sticks to fit your exercise needs and desires: Climbers, Cardio, Weights, Running, Abs, Arms/Biceps, Legs, Swimming, Cycling, Yoga, Tennis, Crossfit.
Now you’re ready to go!
I always feel amazing when I start my day with a good exercise routine and fill my stomach with wholesome, good food throughout the day.
What are your best tips for staying on track with New Year’s goals and resolutions? I’d love to hear in the comments section!
