Decadent Turtle Brownie Trifle

Layers of chewy, fudgy brownies, chopped pecans, caramel and chocolate topping and cool whip make this Turtle Trifle oh-so-decadent and completely irresistible!  It’s a must make!
Probably my most favorite thing about trifles, besides the fact that they’re delicious, is how they look as if I spent hours preparing it, when in actuality, it took just minutes to throw the layers together.  If you’re bringing dessert to a potluck, barbecue or other gathering, trifles never fail to impress!  They’re simply gorgeous and they feed a crowd!
Some friends invited us over for dinner the other night and asked if we’d bring the refreshments.  Let’s just say no one needs to ask me twice to make something sweet, so I just about screamed, “Yes!!!”
I love TURTLES (ever had one?), and I’d been dreaming of them in trifle form, so I decided to finally bring those fantasies to life.  The result is nothing short of divine!  Seriously.  I just want to face plant in that bowl right now!
I was considering just sharing the pretty pictures and leaving the rest of this post blank, because there are almost no words for something this good.  But, when I write about food, it’s almost as if I were tasting it again.  Almost.  So I opted to tell you about the delightful layered confection so I could, in a way, re-live the experience I had while enjoying it.  But without the calories this time.  :)The kids came back for second and third helpings.  We adults were slightly more controlled, but I was secretly wanting to devour the entire thing and lick the dish clean.  Ah, if only manners didn’t matter.  🙂

{DECADENT TURTLE BROWNIE TRIFLE}

1 box chewy fudge brownies, prepared and baked according to package directions (I used Duncan Hines)
1 pkg. (3.9 oz.) chocolate instant pudding and pie filling, (prepared according to package directions)
Caramel Syrup Topping
Chocolate Syrup Topping
1 container (8 oz.) Cool Whip
1 c. chopped pecans, plus 1/4 c. for topping
1 chocolate bar for shaving (optional)
Prepare the chocolate pudding according to package directions and let set in refrigerator.  Prepare and bake brownies according to package directions, in a 9″x13″ metal pan.  Let cool completely.  Cut into mini squares, separate, and put half the squares in the bottom of a trifle dish.
Drizzle caramel syrup and chocolate syrup over brownies generously.  Spread half the container of cool whip over brownies.  Sprinkle with 1 c. chopped pecans.  Spread all of the chocolate pudding over the pecans and cool whip.  Layer with the last half of the brownie squares.  Drizzle brownies generously with caramel and chocolate syrup.  Spread the remaining half of the container of cool whip on top.  Sprinkle with 1/4 c. chopped pecans and chocolate bar shavings, drizzle with caramel and enjoy!  Store in refrigerator.

My mouth is watering, how about yours?
Our friends said we are more than welcome to come over any time as long as we have this Turtle Trifle in hand.  I think they might just like us for our food. :)I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
