Fantastic BBQ Baked Beans

The summer barbecuing season is still in full swing at our house and I’m not about to give it up anytime soon.  The grill has seriously been our best friend as the temperatures soar outside.  I’m a baby…it doesn’t usually get past 100 degrees here, but why sweat over a stove and dirty tons of dishes when I can cook up some yummy-ness outside in a matter of minutes or in a slow-cooker all day and have hardly any clean-up afterwards?  I’m a simple type of gal.

These fantastic baked beans can be made in the crockpot, so you can pop them in, in the morning and forget about them until dinner.  We love to serve them alongside a good ‘ol juicy burger with chips or potato salad.

{BBQ BAKED BEANS}
1 large can (about 53 oz.) plus one medium can (about 27.5 oz.) pork & beans
1 can (about 15 oz.) kidney beans
molasses to taste (1 T.)
8 slices bacon, uncooked
3/4 c. ketchup
1 t. dry mustard
1 medium onion, diced
3/4 c. brown sugar

Stir all ingredients together in an oven-safe pan and bake for 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or place in a slow-cooker and cook all day on low.  Tip: To prevent burning on the sides of the crockpot, line it with foil up the sides and on the bottom, then fill with bean mixture.
