Glorified Tuna Fish Sandwiches

Take your tuna fish sandwich to the next level with this yummy “Glorified” version!  Pickles, celery, egg, and cheese add-ins combine to make the perfect handheld meal!

I grew up eating these delicious revamped tuna-filled buns.  My mom would always put them in foil and bake them.  The filling was warm and just oozed out the sides! Mmmmmmmm….!!!

So I have a confession to make.  I’ve never been a huge tuna fish fan, but in this form, I happily convert!   It’s almost like potato salad, but with tuna and served up on bread of some sort.

It’s a simple summertime meal that will easily transport to the park or elsewhere for a picnic.  These would also make great appetizers at a potluck!  Just serve up on slider rolls with a toothpick inserted.  You could also add some lettuce and tomato, but I prefer them as is.
Serve them up with a side of chips and fresh fruit and call it a meal!  Take them to the ballpark, water park, on a hike, or just enjoy them from your table at home.  So many options!

{GLORIFIED TUNA FISH SANDWICHES}
Makes about 8 sandwiches, when served on hot dog buns

2 cans tuna fish, drained
2 Tbsp. sweet pickles, diced really finely or sweet pickle relish
2 Tbsp. yellow onion, very finely minced
1 cup cheese, grated (I used Monterey Jack, but Colby Jack would be yummy too)
4 large eggs, hardboiled, shells removed, then diced
3 Tbsp. celery, finely chopped
1/2 cup Miracle Whip

Buns or sandwich rolls

Drain tuna and add to a large bowl.  Add sweet pickles, onions, cheese, hardboiled eggs, celery and Miracle Whip.  Stir together.  Fill buns or rolls with mixture, wrap each sandwich in foil and place in a 350 Fahrenheit degree oven.  Heat through until cheese is melted and inside mixture is nice and warm.  Serve immediately.  If you’ll be taking them somewhere, just skip the oven step.  Store the filling mixture in the refrigerator until ready to use.

If you’d like to bake them, fill buns or sandwich rolls with mixture, then wrap each in foil and place in a 350 Fahrenheit oven for about 20 minutes or until cheese inside is melted and mixture is warm.

I hope you enjoy these delectable things!  You’ll never want a plain tuna fish sandwich again!  There’s no turning back.  ðŸ™‚
