Start the summer grilling season off with a bang with these addicting Stuffed Kung Pao Jalapeño Bites! So much cheesy goodness with a tasty Asian spin and generous crispy bacon topping! It doesn’t get better than this!stuffed kung pao jalapeno bites3

I love when the weather turns consistently warm and gives me the ok to fire up the grill again. It’s hard to believe that it was covered in snow just a few weeks ago.

And now we’re enjoying gorgeous sunshine-filled days where we want to spend every moment basking in the rays outdoors.

We basically barbecue almost every evening of the week once summer hits. Are you the same way? It’s just wonderful not having to heat up the house with the oven and cleanup is so much easier too! Plus, we love hanging out by the grill, waiting for our food to be done, while watching our kids run around, laughing and playing in the yard. If I could just freeze them in the age and stage they are in now, I’d be one happy lady forever!

But since I can’t, I’ll just have to keep myself content with today’s incredible appetizer. If I didn’t already have you at bacon, let me continue to make you drool and yearn.

I recently discovered this phenomenal NEW P.F. Chang’s® Home Menu Sauce in Kung Pao flavor and it is the star player in today’s recipe.

I’m all about easy-to-prepare foods, especially when there are better things to be doing than slaving away in the kitchen, such as witnessing my four kids having the time of their lives playing a game of hide and seek outside.

This sauce, my friends, is the simple ingredient to extraordinary flavor! It’s available exclusively at Walmart in the Asian foods aisle and I’m not lying when I say you can’t get there fast enough to grab one for yourself.

I thought it would be so fun and yummy to combine a classic Asian flavor, Kung Pao, with a best-loved appetizer, stuffed jalapeño peppers. Let me tell you, the partnership is a blissful one!

P.F. Chang’s® Kung Pao Sauce is the key to this simple-to-make cross between Asian and Mexican cuisine. You’re going to love these! It was hard to stop popping them into our mouths! One just led immediately to another one. 🙂

Summer parties and gatherings aren’t complete without a few platefuls of these beauties! They’ll fly right off the platters!

These are so easy and quick to put together! Here’s how to do it:stuffed kung pao jalapeno bites collage

We have some amazing grill mats that kept the cheese filling from spilling down in. If you don’t have those, you may need to level some of the lopsided peppers so they’ll sit flat.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. cream cheese softened
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1 cup finely-shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 green onions diced finely
  • 1/4 tsp. salt or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 7 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 2 Tbsp. P.F. Chang's® Home Menu Kung Pao Sauce
  • 7 large jalapeño peppers cut in half, seeds and membranes removed

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine cream cheese, garlic, cheddar cheese, green onions, salt, pepper, and P.F. Chang's® sauce. Fill each of the peppers with the mixture. Top with bacon crumbles.
  • Grill on medium-high heat for approximately 8 to ten minutes, or until peppers reach desired tenderness. We did 10 minutes and they were nice and tender, just like we like them.

Notes

To prevent the cheese from spilling over into the grill, level the lopsided jalapeños, before filling them, by slicing a little bit off the bottom so they sit flat.

Oh man, yum! We have a bunch of jalapenos growing in the garden and don't know what to do with them all, so this is perfect!
