Over the next few days I’m going to show elements of my Valentine’s mantle that have come from Pinterest. Then I’ll do a grand reveal of the entire mantle (also inspired by Pinterest) later this week.
Everything’s cuter in the mini form, right? I think so. I’ve seen lots of versions of this little mailbox on Pinterest, and I loved the idea, so last year I created my own.
I just bought a plain paper mache mailbox from Hobby Lobby for around a dollar. I’ve seen tin ones in the dollar section of Target like the original idea below, but of course I didn’t see that until after-the-fact.
I first painted the entire thing red.
Next, I measured, cut, and Mod Podged my Valentine’s patterned paper to it.
Then I embellished it with ribbon and free Valentine’s printables backed with scallops.
Bingo! Super Easy and Super Cute!
Last year, beginning on the first day in February, I filled it with a love note or candy or a small treasure for the kids each day leading up to Valentine’s Day. They got so excited every morning to see what surprise it held for them.
Here’s my version:
Pinterest comes through again! Hope you like it! Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day?
