Show Mom how much you care with a special, colorful Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet, complete with Blueberry Buttermilk Waffles, gifts, cards and more!
We live far away from family, so I don’t get to see my wonderful mom and mother-in-law very often. I admire both of them so much.
Lucky for me, though, I am surrounded by so many amazing role model mothers here. I really look up to my girl friends and love to turn to them for advice and support as I raise my children, just to vent about a particularly frustrating day with the kids, or to talk about “momming” wins when they happen. Because, let’s be honest, every triumph should be acknowledged!
Sometimes I feel like I wouldn’t survive without that much-needed “adult conversation” and encouragement that I get from my circle of lady friends. Do you feel the same?
Mothers and women in general can have such an impactful, positive influence on the rising generation. They have the ability to demonstrate a unique love and tenderness to children around them, whether their own or not. They have an undeniable gift for teaching and inspiring young people. They truly give their whole hearts and lives to their families.
So each year as Mother’s Day approaches, I like to find very purposeful ways to show my appreciation for the incredible mothers and women in my life.
Because I believe that womanhood and motherhood is a role that deserves to be celebrated in a big way!
So I set up a super simple and fun Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet that’s a perfect way to “Make her Day”!
I headed to Walmart and found the cutest American Greetings cards, wrap, gift bags and tissue paper. They were my inspiration for today’s bright and cheery buffet color palette.
I decorated the table with American Greetings Mother’s Day cards and gift bags. I love when pretty meets functional!
There’s nothing that quite says, “I love you, Mom” like a pretty card with a personal, heartfelt message inside.
I added paper medallions in the color scheme for the backdrop. Find the tutorial for making those here. I placed fresh flowers in a tin watering can for a centerpiece.
I lined the chest of drawers with American Greetings cute heart print wrapping paper. It’s all about the little details!
One stop to Walmart was all it took to outfit this pretty buffet table!
American Greetings has everything needed to make Mom’s day special from the cards to the wrapping paper, gift bags and tissue paper.
These Blueberry Buttermilk Waffles were definitely a highlight of the morning! So easy to make and perfectly paired with fresh fruit and juice.
Fill an American Greetings gift bag with a “pamper yourself” gift for mom. Add American Greetings tissue paper in coordinating colors for the perfect touch! Because mothers certainly deserve some “me time” every once in a while. 🙂
Don’t forget the pretty plates!
One can never receive too many cards! Mom is sure to feel the love with these beautiful sentiments. Kind words bring about all the feel-goods!

Here’s how to put together the waffles:
Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Whip the egg whites until fluffy and peaks form. Mix the dry ingredients with the egg yolks, buttermilk and oil. Fold in blueberries and egg whites. Then cook to delicious perfection on a waffle iron. Serve in quarters.

Blueberry Buttermilk Waffles
Ingredients
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. quick-cooking oats
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 3 eggs separated
- 1 1/4 c. buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp. canola oil
- 1 c. blueberries
Instructions
- In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, salt, quick-cooking oats and brown sugar.
- Add egg yolks, buttermilk and canola oil to flour mixture. Add whites to a separate bowl. Whip egg whites until fluffy and peaks form.
- Fold in blueberries and egg whites. Some of the whites will still show. You want the mixture to be nice and fluffy. It will be thick.
- Pour onto a greased waffle iron and cook thoroughly. I like mine a little crispier, but cook for less time if you like them less crispy. Grease the waffle iron every time in between, as the blueberries tend to make the mixture stick. Serve warm with syrup.

She’s sure to grin from ear to ear when she sees this setup! A simple yet meaningful brunch that will provide memories to last a lifetime!
Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful mamas out there!
