I’m slightly obsessed with Mason jars right now, and because my Santa Painted Mason Jar was such a hit, I decided to craft a different gift that can be given all winter long, with this DIY Snowman Jar.
I think he’s kinda cute. 🙂 I’m all about simple, homemade gifts, and this one was so fun to make! I love that it can be filled with whatever treat or small items that can be dreamed up.Even if you can’t seem to give this cute guy away (I totally understand…I get attached to my creations too), he makes a cute decoration around the house!
{SUPPLIES}
Mason jar (I used pint-sized, but quart-sized will work too)
Acrylic paint
Buttons
Ribbon
Orange Craft Foam Scrap
Start by painting your jar.
I gave mine about three coats to ensure it was fully covered. Let dry in between. My house is cold, so it wasn’t drying very quickly, and I’m an impatient person, so I brought out a fan and set it right by it…worked like magic!
Paint the lid portions of your jar black to act as the hat.
Tie some ribbon around the center of your jar to look like a scarf.
Cut a small triangle out of orange craft foam and hot glue on for the nose.
Using the rounded tip of a paint brush, dip it in black paint and “stamp” on the eyes and mouth.
Hot glue on little back buttons.
Fill with fun things, screw on the lid, and you’re done! I packed mine with some hot chocolate mixes, marshmallows, and peppermint candies.
It’s a very inexpensive and thoughtful way to show someone they are cared about and appreciated. I love the plaid ribbon “scarf” and his foam carrot nose, don’t you?
My kids check outside every morning first thing with high hopes that mounds of the fluffy, white stuff will be awaiting them, but mother nature doesn’t usually cooperate.
Is it a winter wonderland where you live?
