A totally kid and parent-pleasing sandwich, these Pizza Grilled Cheese are a fun and tasty twist on the traditional much-loved meal!
My little boy asks every day if pizza is for dinner. I’ve said before that I probably could eat pizza every day. Like mother like son. It’s just one of those staples that I can’t live without.
The hubby and I were talking the other day about if there were only one food that we could eat for the rest of our lives, what would it be. We both answered pizza. It was a no-brainer. I mean, there are so many different ways to enjoy it…bajillions of topping combinations and sauce options, and then there’s the deep crust, the thin crust, grilled, baked, brick oven cooked, and so on. The options are endless!
This is why the world needs to be introduced to the Pizza Grilled Cheese. It’s love at first sight and then “I want more!” at first bite. It’s like an inside out pizza with bread instead of the crust.
My favorite part was that I literally made these in minutes while the family had already sat themselves down at the bar, lips smacking, watching and waiting to pounce. If incredible smells could kill, we would have instantly dropped to the floor.
I was mom of the evening. Superwoman for a few hours. The kids were completely entranced and amazed by my awesome food-making skills. I’ll take it. 🙂
Who needs to order take-out or carryout when one can raid the cupboards and plop this masterpiece of a meal in front of everyone?! One sandwich is just not enough, so be prepared to become a slave to the grill for a while! 🙂
{PIZZA GRILLED CHEESE}
One jar of your favorite pizza sauce (we love Classico Fire-Roasted)
One loaf of fresh-baked French bread, sliced
Pepperoni slices
Sliced Monterey Jack or Mozzarella Cheese
Soft butter
Warm a griddle or skillet over the stovetop. Keep heat on medium-low. Prepare sandwich by taking one slice of French bread and topping it first with pepperonis, then a few tablespoons of pizza sauce, followed by cheese slices. Place another piece of French bread on top and butter one side of the sandwich. Place sandwich butter side down on griddle or skillet. Butter the other piece of bread that’s facing up. Allow sandwich to cook until it’s golden brown on the bottom, then flip it and cook on the other side until golden brown and slightly crispy. I pressed mine with a spatula as it was cooking so the fillings would melt nicely and cook evenly. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
Trust me when I say you want to arrange a personal meeting with this unique, yet incredible grilled cheese sandwich. One, which ends with complete satisfaction in the outcome…a very happy tummy. 🙂
