Sassy Tailgate Sandwiches

Just about everything is cuter in mini form, don’t you think?  The same can be said about these yummy pint-sized sandwiches.  Not only are they fun and little, but they’re packed with lots of flavor from the crusty Parmesan topping to the cream cheese spread to the soft, sweet Hawaiian rolls that hold it all together.
These tasty treasures are made “Paula Deen style” as my husband rightly noted when I rattled off the list of ingredients.  Though not for the health-conscious, they’re perfect for a potluck or, as their name infers, a tailgate party.  Be sure to make them in bulk, though, ’cause they won’t last long!

If you need the perfect appetizer to take to that potluck or BBQ, look no further than this recipe! I make these for baby and bridal showers, parties and gatherings! You name it, and I bring it there! Everyone always begs me to come to the party with these in hand!

They’re so easy to put together and always fly right out of the pan! They’re so scrumptious and completely addicting! Everyone raves about them!

Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls, split
  • 1 lb. shaved Black Forest ham
  • 12 oz. Gruyere cheese, sliced (I used Gouda, but you can also use mozzarella)
  • 1 tub (8 oz.) Philadelphia Chive and Onion Cream Cheese
  • 1/2 c. butter, melted
  • 1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 t. dried minced onion

Instructions

  1. Arrange bottoms of rolls in a greased 13"x9" baking dish.  Layer with ham and Gruyere cheese.  Spread each roll top with cream cheese; place over Gruyere.  Or cut each roll individually, place ham, Gruyere cheese inside, then spread with cream cheese and place in greased baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the butter, Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce and onion.  Pour over sandwiches.  Let stand for at least 20 minutes.
  3. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes or just until heated through.
  4. *If you don't have minced onion, you can sub onion powder.

Yum!! My family has made a variation of these "sliders" for years, usually for the Superbowl :) They are always a hit! I've never tried it with cream cheese though, will have to add that next time. Stopping by from the Wonderful (Wednesday) Blog Hop, via Ducks in a Row. You should link this recipe on our weekly Link Up on Wednesday, called Moonlight & Mason Jars. Would love to see you there!

Are these supposed to be served warm or cold? If you bake them at home how do you keep them warm for the tailgate?

These were delish! We used Gouda, omitted the onion & mixed dijon with the cream cheese. Would love to know how to keep the tops of the bread from being so "done" and crunchy. I poked holes with a fork, but the butter mix didn't penetrate. Still a keeper. Can see it with roast beef and horseradish. Yum! Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback Beth! Your change-ups sound fantastic. As for the tops, mine weren't too crunchy, so that's strange. Did you cover it with foil while baking? Or maybe try shortening the cooking time a little.
