Spooky Halloween Window Scene

Do you get many trick-or-treaters at your house?  We typically don’t.  My neighborhood has the reputation for being the “party pooper” place on Halloween night, because too many of the houses surrounding us turn their lights off and pretend they’re not home.  Pretty sad, huh?!?

We’re always fully-loaded with candy to hand out, though, so the last few costume-adorned doorbell ringers are lucky and get to go home with a bag weighing more than they do. If you’re like me and don’t get the pleasure of being constantly bugged on Halloween night, maybe this spooky Halloween window scene will help draw in the cute ghosts and goblins.  It’s worth a try, right?

My kids get excited to turn on the lights each night leading up to the special day.

A few black poster boards, lights, some scissors, and double-stick tape is about all it takes to display one of these fun scenes at your house too!

{MATERIALS}
3 black poster boards
scissors
double stick tape
hole punch
orange lights
Sketch and cut out three unique pumpkins, three bats of varying sizes, and a crescent moon on your black poster board.  Punch holes for the bat’s eyes.  Be sure to draw and cut out sections in your pumpkins not only for the face but also surrounding it, as shown above, so the light can shine through.  Draw a spooky tree using one poster board for the top half of the tree and another for the bottom.  Adhere pieces to your window using double stick tape.  String lights around the perimeter of your window and adhere to your window.  Again, double stick tape did the trick for me.
That’s it!  See, I told you it was easy. 🙂

    My husband would love this! He loves to decorate for Halloween and we just moved into a neighborhood that we heard is Trick-or-Treat central. I am pinning this. Came over from the Daily Blog Boost!

    How great! I never would have even thought about doing that.
    It's our first year in a house after spending several years on the terrace level in an apartment where we literally had ZERO trick-or-treaters. I'm going to have to remember to go buy candy!

    Your window looks amazing. Our street doesn't get many passers by but i'll definitely save up this idea for future years.
