The summer months ahead promise to be filled with heat and lots of outdoor fun, so today I’m excited to share my tips for staying hydrated, plus a printable fill-in bucket list!
I have a confession to make: I have the toughest time drinking water! Are you the same way?
I’ve always been like that, and I’m not sure why, really. Growing up, I’d realize that I needed to grab a drink when the headache hit. Now, my husband actually has to ask me throughout the day if I’m getting enough liquids, and at that point, I go and down a glass of water and then forget to drink anything else until our next meal or when he gives me that friendly reminder again. 🙂
But this summer, I’m determined for that to change! I’m six months pregnant and my kids and I have a huge summer fun bucket list, so staying hydrated is crucial during the hot months ahead.
I hereby pledge to drink enough water every day from here on out, and you can hold me to it. 🙂
To aid me in my goal, and hopefully help you too, I’ve come up with three tips for staying hydrated:
1. Carry a water bottle with you all day. My Brita Filter Water Bottle might as well be glued to me at the hip, because it’s my new best friend over the coming months. 🙂 I love that it allows me to have filter water at my fingertips wherever I go, no matter if I fill it at a drinking fountain while out, or my kitchen sink at home. I picked up this wonderful water bottle in the hardware department at Walmart.
2. Sip water whenever you’re feeling even a little bit thirsty. Don’t wait until you’re parched. By the time you’re feeling like you need a drink, it’s likely you’re already dehydrated.
3. Drink water at regular intervals throughout the day, but don’t overdo it. It is possible to drink too much water.4. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after exercise and in hot weather to replenish lost fluids.
5. Add slices of lemon, lime or cucumbers to your water to give it flavor without tacking on calories. This one makes all the difference for me!

As I said, the kids and I have BIG plans for this summer! We filled out a bucket list together (free download below) and already checked off one adventure item!
Over the Memorial Day weekend, we visited the cutest little place that’s not far away from where we live, called Tinkertown Museum. It was so eclectic and had lots of neat things to see and buttons to press (i.e. it was basically kid heaven).
I kept my Brita Filter Water Bottle in hand the entire time and sipped while we walked and browsed. My pregnant body thanked me by not giving me a headache. 🙂
Now we’re ready to take on more fun and conquer another item on our bucket list! Next up…the butterfly house! I love this time of year when the kids are home all day with me and we get to play, play, play!
Download and print your free printable fill-in summer bucket list HERE. I printed mine on white cardstock. You can laminate it and then use it next year too!
