Whenever I can, I like to give special gifts of appreciation to my daughter’s kindergarten teacher and the classroom helper. I have so much admiration for them and their tireless efforts to educate my daughter and love her while they are doing it. My sweet girl always comes home singing fun songs about concepts they are learning, or carrying a fun craft or goodies they have made to go along with a book they’ve read.
I saw these cute candy layered jars on Pinterest and knew I had to make some for the two wonderful ladies.
I changed a few things up from the original. Instead of using regular pint-sized mason jars, I used the wide-mouthed mason jars so I could have the extra space on top for my chalkboard message, and because I think they’re slightly cuter :). I sprayed the tops with Rust-oleum chalkboard paint that I had on-hand from Home Depot, let dry, then wrote a message in pink chalk.
I painted the other parts of the lids with Krylon Ballet Slipper spraypaint. I had a bunch of Valentine’s printables from Pinterest, but decided there were enough embellishments without them, so I filled them with peanut butter M&M’s, tied them with ribbon and jute, and they’re ready for giving on Valentine’s Day!
To Natalie’s teachers with love:
I bought my jars at Target because they were cheap there (I paid just over $1 for each jar), but Hobby Lobby has a huge selection of glass jars-from big to small to teeny tiny. These would also make great gifts for the ladies you visit teach (if you know what I’m talking about) or would be super cute friend/classmate Valentines for the kids in the extra mini jar form.
I hope I’ve inspired you to make some! These really are easy to put together. They’re so fun and festive and I can’t wait to give them away!
