Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease cookie sheets or line them with nonstick baking mats.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs and vanilla. Cream it well, mixing at a high speed, and scraping down the sides as you go.
In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, corn starch and salt. Add it to the wet mixture and mix until incorporated. Stir in chocolate chips, caramel bits and chopped pecans.
Scoop or form dough into rounded 1 1/2" balls and place at least 2" apart on the cookie sheets. Bake for 8-9 minutes. Allow them to cool for a few minutes on the cookie sheets before carefully removing them to a cooling rack to cool completely. Store at room temperature.
