Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9"x13" metal cake pan.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, mix white cake mix, buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Add sprinkles and quickly mix just until incorporated.
Spread batter evenly into prepared pan.
Bake for approximately 20-22 minutes, or just until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Don't over bake.
Allow the cake to cool completely on a cooling rack.
Make the frosting by creaming together softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and just enough milk for thinning (add 1 Tbsp. at a time and mix in between) in the bowl of an electric mixer. Cream it for 2-5 minutes to make sure it's nice and creamy and fluffy!
Frost the cooled cake, add extra jimmies on top for garnish, and enjoy!
