Santa’s Favorite Cookie Bars

Ingredients
  

  • 1 c. butter softened
  • 1 c. brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 pkg. 3.4 oz. vanilla instant pudding and pie packet (dry from the package)*see note below
  • 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • scant 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c . chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. red and green chocolate candies plus additional for pressing into the top

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9"x13" cake pan.
  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add dry pudding mix, flour, baking soda and salt and mix until combined. Stir in 1/2 c. chocolate chips and 1/2 c. colored chocolate candies.
  3. Press dough into prepared pan, press additional colored chocolate candies on top (about 1/2 cup), then bake for approximately 12 to 15 minutes (mine were done in 14 minutes), or just until the edges barely start to turn a golden brown. Don't over bake or they'll be dry and crumbly! Enjoy!

Notes

*If you don't have the vanilla pudding packet, add an extra 1/2 c. of brown sugar instead, packed, and continue on as the recipe directs.
