If I gave my kids the choice between playing video games or making a fun craft with mom, they’d choose the craft every time, without blinking. I love that they love to create! So I enjoy coming up with new things for us to try our hands at making.

I’ve always thought the water cooler cone drink cups would look so cute as Christmas trees, so I put them to dual use as decorations and adorable little snack containers for our red and green Goldfish crackers! So perfect! The kids got a kick out of them.

I always enjoy seeing my kids’ personalities come through in the things they are making. Each creation is so unique, special and clever, just like the kids who made them. These mini Christmas tree cups have so much character and texture with the added button, ribbon, pom pom and glitter embellishments!

We threw them together in no time at all and now the kids have a yummy and festive snack to look forward to after school during this most wonderful month of December!

This would be a great activity to keep the kiddos busy during a snow day or even at a holiday party!

One of our favorite activities/traditions that we share together as a family is the annual decorating of the tree. We usually do it the day after Thanksgiving instead of shopping. It’s nice to avoid the crowds and stay in where it’s all cozy and warm while we blast the carols and make lasting memories, adorning the trees with beautiful ornaments and bright glowing lights.

So I thought it would be fun to decorate our own mini trees and then fill them with goodies to create the ultimate exciting snack time experience.

I found these Goldfish crackers in holiday colors at Target and knew they’d be a perfectly merry and jolly addition to our Christmas tree snack cups! We love how they’re red and green!

Look for these other fun flavors available at Target: Goldfish Mix – Chocolate Candy Cane and Pretzel (exclusively at Target), Goldfish Colors – Red and Green, Goldfish Grahams – S’mores, Goldfish Holiday Shapes – Cheddar (exclusively at Target).

Now call the kids over, because here’s how to make today’s cute craft:

{SUPPLIES}

Cone paper drink cups
craft paint and foam brushes
pom poms
glitter
buttons
ribbon
liquid glue and hot glue
paper
pencil
scissors

Paint the drink cones, allow them to dry, then decorate with glitter, buttons, pom poms, ribbon, etc. We found that the pom poms stayed on best with hot glue.

Trace around the bottom of a drink cone onto paper or cardstock. Cut it out. Fill your decorated Christmas tree cone with Goldfish crackers in fun holiday colors and shapes. We love the Goldfish Grahams – S’mores too! Place a thin bead of hot glue around the rim of the cone, then immediately press the circle on top, lining it directly and exactly up with the base. Now turn it rightside up and admire the snack cup that doubles as a pretty Christmas decoration!

We just love how it turned out! Crafting with kids is a wonderful way to create holiday memories to last a lifetime! And the tasty snack is an added, very welcome bonus. 🙂

I hope your holiday season is filled with oodles of joy!
