Enliven the home with this easy-to-make Wood Round Candle Holder, complete with a pretty candle!
If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know that we moved to the mountains about a year and a half ago. We love our new home and the gorgeous views out our windows. But, the winter is long and cold here. So you can imagine how excited I get to see the sunshine and higher temps start making their way back.
Once spring time rolls around, I’m always in the mood to freshen up my home. Which always involves new projects. 🙂
So I start the joyous cleaning process and then I find myself wanting to make changes to all my surroundings, including wall hangings, furniture, and other knick knacks around the home. If it were an option, I’d probably throw most of it out and start completely anew. 🙂
But since that’s not exactly a logical or budget-friendly decision, I opt to swap out a few of the old pieces (donating them to the thrift store) and add a few new pieces while I’m at it.
And because I like to stay true to the style of my home and surroundings, I decided to put together a rustic-looking, burlap-lined bucket candle holder for a centerpiece on my coffee table. Isn’t it pretty?
I cut my own round from a cedar log in our stockpile outside. It always feels like a shame throwing it into the wood burning stove and using it to produce heat, because I can see its true potential, and that is to adorn my home in becoming a candle holder. 🙂 I love how perfectly imperfect it is!
We have a wood-planked wall in this room, so this new piece really ties the “mountain home” theme together.
And because the finished look just wouldn’t be complete without the perfect candle topper, I stopped at Smith’s and grabbed some great scents!
There’s no better way to set a warm and welcoming tone in the home or improve its ambiance than with a fresh, new aroma! I love the NEW Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Home Fragrance by Glade®.
Every room in the house has a story that longs to be told and Glade® every day scents and smells help accomplish just that! Glade® scents complement any decor and really bring a wonderful, comfortable “feel” to the home.
My family couldn’t stop talking about how good things smelled when they walked in the door!
Here’s how to make this fun craft!
You’ll need a small tin bucket, a wood round that fits nicely on top of the bucket and hangs over the edge a little, some burlap, high-strength glue (like Gorilla), scissors, and of course a candle to look pretty on top! I chose No. 1 Enraptured™ from the new Atmosphere Collection by Glade® that has hints of Jasmine and Cedarwood. I figured its scent would go perfectly with the mountain ambiance of my home.
Start by lining your bucket with burlap. You’ll need to cut the burlap to size and then wrap it around and hot glue it as you go. I wasn’t able to remove my handle, so I worked around it.
Now add some glue to the rim of the bucket and place your wood round on top. Allow time for the glue to set completely. Now place your candle on top and admire!
I love how easy it is to change the look and feel of a room with a simple piece of decor! This living area has become our happy place!
