Christmas Magic Dip

This Christmas Magic Dip will make you dance like the sugar plum fairies! Fluffy, and peppermint-y with marshmallows and crunchy nuts, this dessert will become a holiday tradition!

When I think back to my childhood Christmases, my most fond memories are not of the toys or other things I received, but of experiences I shared with those I love.

We’ve started some fun traditions in our family that I hope my kids will cherish and continue with their own children, years down the road. The first Monday in December we always decorate a gingerbread house together. We also love to visit the incredible Christmas lights displays at our local botanical gardens.

We started a new tradition this year of visiting the beautiful Festival of Trees. Besides browsing the aisles lined with gorgeously-adorned trees in a myriad of themes, the kids got to sit on Santa’s lap there and even made adorable Christmas crafts.

I resisted at first, but we ended up starting the Elf on a Shelf two years ago. I have to say now, that I’m so glad we did, because it’s something my kids look forward to each morning with great anticipation and excitement. First thing after waking up, they run out in frantic search of the elf. As if it’s a contest to be the first to locate him. I love watching them scour every windowsill and corner of the place for little Peter (as they named him) every morning, but I have to say the thing I enjoy most about it is the good behavior that results from the miniature guy’s mere presence. 🙂

In fact, my seven-year-old son has started to ask what extra chores he can do to make a positive impression on the elf. He’s been very vigilant about making sure he’s on Santa’s nice list. 🙂

Some of my favorite childhood Christmas memories surround special desserts my mom would make during the holiday season. She always produced Chocolate Marshmallow Logs, Caramel Popcorn and Homemade Oreo Cookies in bulk in order to assemble pretty goodie plates for our neighbors and church friends.

I have a feeling this dreamy peppermint dip will be something we remember fondly and look forward to each Christmas! It’s perfectly sweet and creamy and flavored with crushed peppermint pieces, diced maraschino cherries, then studded with walnut or pecan pieces and mini marshmallows. It’s absolutely irresistible! Plus, it’s festively-colored!

Serve it at your holiday gatherings and wait for the compliments to fly!

My inspiration for this delightful dip were some bars my mom used to make, growing up, called “Hundred Dollar Dessert”. This dip, very closely resembles it and will make you giddy like it just started raining dollar bills!
