Paper Doily Valentine’s Heart Pouches

These Paper Doily Heart Pouches are a pretty way to give a yummy gift this Valentine’s Day! They’re so easy to make and are sure to make a sweet impression on someone you love!

I’m all about simple when it comes to gift giving. But simple can also be super thoughtful! I’ll prove that to you with today’s paper doily hearts that I threaded together to make adorable little dainty pouches for treats! These are perfect to hand out in the classroom, to friends, coworkers, family…you name it!

They literally come together in a minute! All you’ll need is some paper heart doilies, some baker’s twine, and of course something delicious to fill them with! Of course chocolate is always my favorite option! 🙂 You could also slip in a gift card or other small treasures.

They are very delicate, so choose something that won’t be too heavy when filled. I even experimented with two colors of doilies and it worked out great! Even if the holes don’t line up exactly, if they are close enough, you should be able to make it work. They hearts will need to be the same size, though. My hearts were about 6″ wide at their widest and 5″ tall, but most any size will work.

I love giving heartfelt, inexpensive gifts to loved ones on Valentine’s Day! And if they are as simple as this to put together, it’s a huge bonus! This is a great craft for older kids as well!

Here’s a quick run-down on what you’ll need and how to make them:

Supplies:

Paper doily hearts (available at any craft store)

Baker’s twine

Something to fill them with

Line up two doilies. Start at the top and carefully thread your bakers twine in and out, as closely together as possible. I skipped one set of holes in between, except for at the point on the bottom of the heart. Make sure you give yourself enough twine so you can trim it as you’re threading, because it will fray. End towards the top on the other side, where you could draw a straight line between where you started and ended. You’ll want to end with both pieces of twine going to the back. Tie a knot in each end, as close as you can to the heart. Trim the excess twine, fill the heart and that’s it! You can use this same method with two colors and patterns of doily hearts. Just make sure the holes mostly line up and that the hearts are the same size.

Who will you give this treat to this Valentine’s Day? I’m sure there are many people in your life who deserve some goodies and a caring gesture!
