To go along with the car theme and to add a fun DIY spin this gift, I threw in a hand-drawn car track t-shirt so my father-in-law can experience a much-deserved massage while the grandkids have a blast going “vroom vroom!” around on his back. I was kind of tempted to make one for myself too.
Now, I’m no artist, but this is a really simple project that will be cute even if you’re an amateur like me. 🙂
You’ll need a plain white t-shirt, some permanent markers, and a large piece of cardboard that will fit inside the shirt to prevent the marker from bleeding through while you’re drawing. For the stop light treats, you’ll need some marshmallow crisped rice squares, some red, yellow and green candies, and some frosting for glue.
Begin by turning your t-shirt to the back and inserting the piece of cardboard inside between the front and back layers. Draw a race track to your liking. I included parking stalls, houses, trees, a school, fire station, a park and stop light for kicks. Feel free to make it as simple or as detailed as you’d like. Now remove the cardboard and you’re done!
To make the stop light treats, simply add a dot of frosting to the back of your red, yellow and green candies and place them down the center of the crisped rice square.
Be sure to include a matchbox car or two with the shirt so the massages can ensue as soon as possible!
