These chocolate-packed, marshmallow-studded, crispy and gooey brownies are proof that cereal isn’t just for breakfast! Grab the milk, because these are rich and totally indulgent, but oh-so worth it!
If you’ve been reading my blog for long, you know that desserts are my passion. They are what makes my world spin ’round. They pretty much take center stage in my thoughts throughout every day. I just can’t help myself! Especially when we’re talking about a thick, soft, gooey chocolate brownie!
So you can imagine the desperation I felt all last week when I had to survive without an oven and without homemade baked goods! We recently converted our home from running on propane to natural gas. Well they flipped the switch last week and we are feeling nice and warm! But, we didn’t think ahead enough to know that we’d need a few special parts in order to make our oven work with the new setup. So we turned our house upside down searching for these tiny orifices that supposedly came with our new oven when we had it installed last April. No luck!
So then we ordered the parts online and paid a ridiculous amount of money to have them overnighted. I told myself it was well worth the price to be able to cook dinner for my family and especially to satisfy my sweet tooth craving! 🙂
Well, we got an email from the company 24 hours later (after I was literally standing guard at the door waiting for that UPS guy to knock all day) saying that the parts were on back order. Palm to the face.
Long story short, we found the parts elsewhere, the plumbers still haven’t had time to install them, so we are still oven-less, but my kind neighbor allowed me to use hers with the promise of brownies as payment. 🙂 And the kids and I got to help put up her Christmas tree while they baked! I’d call that a win.
So, fingers crossed that today we will have a working oven again! I will never take that one for granted again. In fact, quite the opposite. I already have a long list of goodies I’m behind on making since our little predicament happened. One thing’s for sure, our oven will be baking at full capacity once in commission!
One thing we wouldn’t have been able to survive without over the past week is cereal. We’ve basically had it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, consolation for not having an oven, you name it.
I stocked up at Walmart last week when we learned that I wouldn’t be cooking or baking for a while. But, no one has murmured a word of complaint, because cereal is just that good! I love that Post Consumer Brands has something for everyone in my family, since none of them seem to have the same tastes in cereal on any given day.
Our latest favorites? We’ve gotten hooked on Golden Crisp, Honey Comb and Honey Bunches of Oats! I couldn’t help but notice the fun, special packaging promoting the new SING movie.
Select Post products have this new packaging. Through information on the cereal boxes, you can enter the SING National Sweepstakes for a chance to win $100,000 or free movie tickets! How cool is that?!
To enter, simply enter the code that is printed inside the box into the sweepstakes website. Easy, peasy!
I used some of our Golden Crisp cereal to make today’s loaded-with-goodness brownies. I started with a brownie box, because, let’s face it, those are not only the easiest, the best! And then I topped it with so much good stuff it’ll make your head spin!

Ingredients
- 1 Box Brownie Mix (18.3 oz) and required ingredients, prepared according to package directions
- 2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
- 1 c. mini marshmallows
- 2 cups Golden Crisp, divided
- Pretzel Twists
Instructions
- Prepare and bake brownies in an 8x8 dish according to package directions. I like to under-bake mine slightly so they are a little gooey. Allow brownies to cool while you prepare the topping. Melt 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips in the microwave or over the stove top. Stir until smooth. Stir in marshmallows and 1 1/2 cups Golden Crisps. Spread over brownies. Place pretzel twists over the top (as many as you like). Melt 1/2 cup chocolate chips and drizzle over. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup Golden Crisps. Allow to cool/set and serve.
These brownies made a tough week instantly better. They are my sunshine on a cloudy day. I mean, how can you go wrong with chocolate, pretzels, marshmallows, Golden Crisp and lots more chocolate? I’m pretty sure that you cannot make these fast enough! Your taste buds will thank you!
