Disney FROZEN Playdate Ideas

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser.
The excitement is heavy in the air for the ! Can you feel it too? I’m not just talking about the kids, either. 🙂 It hits the shelves in a matter of days!
Have you seen the movie? If so, you may agree with me when I say it’s a masterpiece! My kiddos can’t stop singing the phenomenal songs and quoting, in silly voices, lines from cute little Olaf the Snowman. The characters and the tunes are all simply captivating!  There’s also a heart-warming underlying theme/message of family love and devotion. I like that it’s not specific to girls. My whole family thoroughly enjoyed it-husband, son, and all.
So I thought, what could be better to up the anticipation level even more than a FROZEN Playdate, complete with Edible Olafs, a Frozen Fractals drink, a snow hill for their favorite characters from the movie to play on, and an afternoon of movie-watching with FROZEN toys in hand? The kids thought they’d died and gone to heaven. 🙂
The fun all started with a trip to Walmart to pick up some must-have items for our afternoon playdate.

Because the event just wouldn’t be complete without some of our favorite characters from the movie in toy form….

 ….and some Eggo Waffles for making tasty, healthy Olaf snacks!

We brought Anna and Elsa dolls to their new home where my daughter immediately began pampering them with attention.Aren’t they gorgeous? I think I would have been perfectly content displaying them on a shelf for all to admire, but somehow I don’t think my daughter would have gone for that.  She even had to flip her ponytail to the side just like Elsa. 🙂

And then the playdate was underway!  We wished we would have invited friends, but we didn’t plan far enough in advance.  Oh well.  Three pretty young ladies, a handsome young man plus Olaf the Snowman and Sven the reindeer were company enough.

The kids watched a movie with their new-found, joined at the hand, friends.  They were glued to the TV, as you can see.  Nothing and no one could break that gaze…except maybe a growling tummy.  So they came to the kitchen in search of sustenance, and what did they behold?

An array of healthy (shhh…don’t tell them) ingredients to make Edible Olafs!

“Do you wanna build a snowman?”

These happy kids did!  We included a yogurt glaze concoction for the snow, made with 1 c. plain yogurt, 1/8 t. cinnamon, and 1 1/2 T. maple syrup.  Afterall, snowmen just have to be white!

{Other items in the Edible Olaf-Making Kit were:}

Straight Pretzels for his arms and hair on top
Mandarin slices for Olaf’s nose
Blueberries for buttons and eyes
White chocolate chips for his teeth and feet (marshmallows would also work)
Shimmer White Sugar for snow crystals
Toasted Eggo Waffles cut in smaller circles with a cookie cutter
Raisins for a mouth

Print the Olaf Snowman feature labels HERE.  Then glue them to a pattern paper backing and fold to stand.

The table decorations were simple…just a blue plastic disposable table liner and paper snowflakes in various sizes that I cut out using my Silhouette machine.

To give the illusion of snow falling from the sky, I also hung some snowflake cut-outs from the chandelier with white thread.  Fishing line could also be used for a more invisible look.

Then the kids got busy building their yummy snowmen with tiny fruit toppings!

Introducing Olaf!  The little guy who likes warm hugs.

 He was almost too cute to eat!  Almost. 🙂
We used large square paper plates, tilted on their side to be sure to fit the three Eggo Waffle circles.  Eggo’s make a perfect snowman body!  They’re already round and ready in a jiff!  Olaf would be proud of his replica.  The kids were adamant about building him true-to-character with three snowball sections, just three buttons, and of course teeth!
Then the FROZEN characters, led by two cute munching kiddos, got to play on a mini snow hill.
{TO MAKE THE SNOW HILL:}
I hot glued six small rectangles together to reach the desired height, then whittled away at it, in small sections, until the slope was just right.  Next, I took it outside and gave it a few coats of white spray paint, followed immediately with a generous sprinkling of white crystal glitter, then a coat of spray adhesive to seal it all.
It’s a multi-purpose snow hill…a pretty way to display the dolls when they’re not being played with and a functional slope for them to slide down when they are!  Because Anna and Elsa would miss Arendelle if we didn’t surround them with a bunch of white stuff!
Next, the kids enjoyed their Frozen Fractal Drinks while the two sisters observed, longingly.  To make it, simply coat the top rim of your glasses with water, then dip in coarse sugar or Shimmer White Sugar sprinkles, as we did.  Then pour some blue juice or punch, and it’s ready to enjoy!
Now that’s what I call some #FROZENFun! This playdate is such a simple, memorable way to celebrate the release of FROZEN with kids!Check out my quick Flipagram movie of our fun day!

)

FROZEN the movie will be available beginning on March 18th at Walmart, with a price drop from $16.96 to $14.96!  Eek! But it gets even better! You can find a coupon offer for $5 off the FROZEN DVD on specially marked packages of Eggo Waffles (24 ct.)!  Combined, those are some pretty hard-to-beat reasons to grab a copy for yourself!  I can’t wait!
So I have to know…who is your favorite character from the movie?

I was selected for this fun opportunity through #collectivebias.  All opinions, ideas and excitement are my own. 🙂
