DIY Candy Cane Tree Topper & Hilltop-tree-delivery

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hilltop Christmas Tree Farms. All opinions are 100% mine.

Do you love real Christmas trees?  I sure do! Today I can’t wait to tell you how to order a gorgeous, yummy-smelling tree from the comfort of your own home, plus I’ll show you how to make this beautiful, simple candy cane topper to adorn it!
I can’t believe the holidays are on their way!  Time really flies!
I love this time of year. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and I always look forward to blasting the Christmas music and decking the rooms and halls with festive decor.
I have to admit that I start planning my gift list and holiday activities before Thanksgiving even arrives.  I feel like there’s just not enough time in December to get everything done!  However, I’m very adamant about giving Thanksgiving its glory and waiting until the day after to decorate for Christmas.  It’s our family tradition and we all just know that we pull out the green, red, and white decorations after our day of gratitude and eating way too much turkey and pie!
After the remnants of the feast are cleaned up, the kids get so eager to put up the tree and place their special ornaments on it.
Since we moved into our new home and have more space, I think we’ll have two trees this year!  We’ve always dreamed of having a real tree that smells of fresh pine and that the kids can water and help care for throughout the month of December.  We live in the mountains now, so it’s a very welcoming, homey aroma to us!
I just learned about Hilltop Christmas tree delivery, a wonderfully convenient service that will actually deliver a real tree or wreath right to my door!  Because the trees are cut to order, they arrive fresher and are more aromatic than most trees I can buy at a shop.

Since we don’t own a truck, I especially appreciate that I don’t have to scratch the top of my car getting the tree to my house. 🙂
I can jump online in my jammies with my cup of hot cocoa in hand and order a beautiful 5 to 8 foot or even a mini table top tree (3-4 ft) and then just wait about 7 days for it to arrive.
I think this year we’ll go for the 6 foot Fraser Fir!  Prices for each vary according to tree height.  The ordering process is super simple too!  Just select your tree size and species, then check the box for “Premium” if desired and add it to your cart!  It couldn’t be easier!
And then when it shows up at our door, my kids and I will turn up the festive tunes while we dance and don the tree with ornaments that are dear to our heart and this pretty candy cane topper!
I love handmade tree ornaments.  This one came together in just minutes and is the perfect pop of red and white against the deep green branches!  Candy cane decor has my heart!  Swoon!

To make this, you’ll just need some candy canes (I used 12), a hot glue gun and some ribbon.
Glue your candy canes in a circle, alternating them up and down and slowly angling them as you go around.  Try to glue them as evenly as possible so the end result is not lop-sided.
Then, tie some pretty ribbon around the center and slip it on top of your tree!  It’s so easy and is sure to be a conversation piece when the holiday guests arrive!

What are your favorite memories surrounding decorating the tree? I’d love to hear in the comments section below!
