This most wonderful time of the year also tends to be the busiest time of the year. My family has lots of traditions that we keep alive during each day of December. We also have to make time for normal daily activities, holiday parties, and church activities/responsibilities. It’s a lot to juggle! I definitely feel overwhelmed sometimes, but I’d rather just enjoy this fun season.
So when I host a party or attend a holiday gathering, I like to keep things simple with desserts that come together in a hurry! Today’s peppermint delight treat can be made and baked in the time you can wrap a couple gifts! This, combined with the fact that it’s infused and sprinkled with M&M’s®, is a great indicator to me that it’s a sure winner!
This is a perfect time of year to turn outwards and serve others. We like to give to food and clothing drives that happen through my kids’ school. We also like to do Secret Santa for a child or family. Speaking of giving, did you know that milk is not typically donated to food banks? And of course it’s a high demand item because it provides essential nutrients to kids and families.
If you’re looking for a worthy cause to give to, pourmilk.com is definitely that. For your donation, the Great American Milk Drive will deliver a gallon of milk to a family in need in YOUR local area!AND, with every 2 bags of M&M’s® that you purchase at Walmart (9.4 oz. bags or larger), a gallon of milk will be donated to the drive!
I count my blessings every day that we are able to put food on the table for our family. Did you know that more than 46.5 million Americans each year rely on Feeding America food banks? It’s a sad statistic.
Together, we can join Feeding America in The Great American Milk Drive to help deliver nutrient-rich gallons of milk to hungry families who need it most. Go to milklife.com/give for more details.
Are you taking time to enjoy this joyous time of year?
I’m doing my very best. To me, the most magical part is watching kids get excited about traditions and giving to others. Every morning, my kiddos run out of their room before the crack of dawn (no joke) to search for their elf Peter. Then they build a new element of their Christmas village from their advent calendar. At night, we read Christmas books and watch festive movies together.
We’ve already built our gingerbread house and I’ve finished most of my gift shopping.
My husband took my daughter on a date to The Nutcracker Ballet this past weekend and we’ll be attending a huge light display event as a family tonight.
I can’t wait for my Ugly Ornament Exchange and ladies’ night out too! I’ll show up in my ugly Christmas sweater, because I love a good excuse to put it on! It’s sure to be an evening filled with lots of laughs.
Too much fun! I wish this month lasted a little longer. 🙂
And do you know what else I wish I could have more of throughout the year? The holiday desserts! There’s just something extra yummy and exciting about them. I mean, the sprinkles, candies and peppermint flavors! It’s just too much!
This dessert is not only gorgeously impressive, but it’s also fantastically deceiving. Your guests will think you put a great deal of effort into it, when in reality, it’s totally no sweat! I’m a fan of saving more time for attending ugly christmas sweater parties and going Christmas caroling. Because I like to soak in every minute of this season!
I picked up all of the supplies for this delectable dessert during my last trip to Walmart. I definitely frequent the seasonal candy aisle this time of year. It’s fun to have something to look forward to while grocery shopping!
You’ll need a Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Holiday Cake Mix, some Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Holiday Vanilla Flavored Frosting, M&M’s® White Peppermint and M&M’s® Holiday Milk Chocolate, and some milk, along with an egg and a stick of butter.
{HOLIDAY PEPPERMINT CAKE BARS}
1 Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Holiday Cake Mix
1 egg
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, softened
2 Tbsp. milk
1/2 cup M&M’s® White Peppermint
1 container Funfetti® Holiday Vanilla Flavored Frosting
M&M’s® Holiday Milk Chocolate
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a 9″x13″ pan with foil and coat the foil with nonstick cooking spray. In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine cake mix, egg, butter and milk. Batter will be thick. Stir in M&M’s® White Peppermint.
Press the batter into prepared pan and bake for about 15-20 minutes. Let cool completely, then use the foil overlay to remove the cake bars from the pan. Frost with Funfetti® Holiday Vanilla Flavored Frosting and add sprinkles. Sprinkle with M&M’s® Holiday Milk Chocolate for an extra dose of festive pizzazz!
Then, just slice and serve! Your holiday party guests will love you! This is such a fun, festive treat! I love how it tastes like a soft, thick cookie, but in bar form, and with frosting! Winner, winner!
