Patriotic Party Beverage & Red, White and Blue Kool-Aid Popcorn

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser.
I’m getting geared up for July 4th, how about you?  I always look forward to our barbecue with family and loved ones, the patriotic beverages, the fireworks, and maybe most of all, the special festive treats!
This year I will be making some Red, White and Blue Kool-Aid Popcorn! It’s soft and gooey and the Kool-Aid makes it taste like candy, and you all know how I feel about candy.  We’re good friends.  🙂
I wanted to give the popcorn some bold shades without adding pure food coloring.  Isn’t it pretty?  I served them up in some home-crafted paper cones for portability, which is important at large gatherings.  To make the cones, I simply cut each 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of patterned paper into a square, rolled it, starting at the corner, ensuring that the bottom came to a point, secured it with tape and filled with goodness! Easy peasy!
What I really love about this Kool-Aid Popcorn is that you have oodles of flavor options that will still keep with the patriotic theme.  The party people will go wild for these!

{KOOL-AID PATRIOTIC POPCORN}
For each separate colored batch you’ll need:
5 cups popped popcorn
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. corn syrup
1 Tbsp. butter
1/2 packet dry Kool-Aid (I used Strawberry for the red and Mixed Berry for the blue)
Instructions: In a small pan, stir together sugar, corn syrup, butter, and Kool-Aid.  Bring mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.  Once mixture reaches boiling point, remove from heat and immediately pour over popcorn.  Toss lightly until well coated.  Remove popcorn to a wax or parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.  For crunchier popcorn place the sheet in the oven at 225 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes-check it intermittently.
For the white popcorn, you can either leave it as is (plain) or follow the recipe above, minus the Kool-Aid, for a sweet, clear topping.
For a tasty celebration beverage that’s family friendly, I poured some Tropical Punch Kool-Aid into clear containers and added some cute printables (that Nikki from See Nikki Create shared last year on this site) to the fronts.  I’m all about keeping it simple when hosting large groups.  Holidays are meant to be fun and carefree, and purchasing ready-made drinks really lessens the stress.Kool-Aid is now available in 96 oz. bottles, a perfect size for an Independence Day celebration with lots of guests!  They’ll be sure to #KoolOff with frequent stops to the beverage station.

The fact that the drink is red makes it even more perfect for the special occasion.  Be sure to pick up a few packets of red and blue Kool-Aid while you’re at it.  Please note that I ended up using “Mixed Berry” in place of the “Sharkleberry” featured above.

I tend to frequent this aisle at Walmart during the summer months. 🙂

This pretty patriotic treat, served alongside Kool-Aid Fruit Punch is sure to make for a memorable celebration!
I have some exciting news! Jim Dillard, pro fisherman, could be coming to your local Walmart to help promote the new 96oz Kool-Aid bottles! There will be product giveaways, t-shirts, games, and more fun activities! Here are the locations:

What are your plans for the holiday this year?  Last 4th of July we were lucky enough to be with my husband’s parents on their house boat.  We got to watch an amazing display of fireworks put on by the kind staff at the marina.  This time around we’ll be with my family, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Wishing you a wonderful 4th of July this year!  I hope it’s a blast!
A big thanks to #CollectiveBias for providing me with the opportunity to create a fun patriotic treat!

Those look like fun. I think we'll be making some for the 4th. My only question is....Does it turn you fingers red and blue?

The great thing about this treat is that it doesn't turn your fingers colors once it's fully prepared. It can be sticky, though. But it's yummy!

I was wondering if it would be okay to use one of your pictures on my website with a link back to this recipe. It is one of several fun 4th of July snack ideas that I've seen that I really like and instead of blogging about it, I thought I'd make a list of several and link back to the original sites. Is that OK with you?

Of course Patricia! I'd love for you to link back to this with a photo. Thanks!

When we opened the scope of our search further out, we discovered this place where the food and drinks were extraordinary- many of our friends and family still talk about it.
