Do you ever wish you could stop sorting laundry? If so, then we are two peas in a pod. 🙂 I dread Mondays because I basically have to shut myself in the laundry room for the day while I conquer the mountains of dirty clothes that have built up over the week. If I had my choice of cleaning the three bathrooms in our home or doing laundry, I’d choose the bathrooms in a heartbeat. But I’d like to retract that last phrase now, thanks to a new, amazing discovery that I made, which I can’t wait to spill the beans about.
Would you believe me if I told you that both of the captures above happened in the same day? That’s right! I not only washed, dried, folded, and put away laundry, but I made dinner and dessert! So I titled the tasty sweets “Laundry Day Strawberry Limeade Bars” in honor of my amazing experience. I owe all the credit to Purex® No Sort™ for Colors.
I patted myself on the back for grabbing some on my last trip to Walmart with my silly, cute baby.
See that yellow arrow? The liquid mixture it is pointing to worked a miracle at my house last Monday and left me with time to kill, doing something I actually want to do….
…like baking these gorgeous and tasty Strawberry Limeade Bars!
Let me tell you how they came to be. On Mondays we typically eat a simple dinner because I scarcely have time to take care of the kids and maintain the house in between loads upon loads of laundry, let alone cook a full-course meal. Do you feel overwhelmed on laundry days too?
Well last Monday, that all changed. I felt like superwoman, which is unusual. You know those times when you get so much done that, at nightfall, you look back and think, “Is this still the same day?” Yea, it was one of those glorious occasions. I just can’t help but tell you about it. It was bizarre.
I got up at 5:30 AM like usual, went running, then came home, started a load of laundry, then fed the kids breakfast. I threw in another load, got ready, went grocery shopping, put groceries away, then took the kids to swimming lessons. After returning home, I washed and dried the final load, folded, then put the piles away in their respective drawers. This all happened before the clock struck noon.
Cue Hallelujah Chorus.
Because a day’s worth of work was finished in just half a day (something I thought was next to impossible), I had no other plans. Instead of taking a nap like the little devil on my left shoulder told me to do, I whipped out a batch of these pretties, and boy was I glad I did.
Yes, the hubby and kiddos’ jaws dropped when they saw dessert after a homemade dinner on laundry day. They thought they’d died and gone to heaven. Then they bit into the bars and were even more sure of it.
These delicious squares scream summer! Citrus-y, fruity, chewy, cake-like, and just yummy! Here’s the recipe in case you’d like to bake some up in your spare time on your next laundry day.

Now, let’s get back to how I managed to make dessert on a busy Monday, when I normally would have been glued to the washer and drier. My husband could tell you that I am OCD extremely particular about how our family’s dirty clothes get sorted and washed. Beyond that point, I am totally cool. Heck, the kids’ drawers are often in disarray and if the hubby ever catches me ironing he thinks I’ve gone mad. Wrinkles aside, I am a stickler about keeping those clothes looking vibrant and clean.
Up until a few weeks ago, that meant sorting the colors into at least four different piles-one for reds, pinks and oranges, another for yellows, one for blues, greens, blacks and dark purples, and one for jeans. It was enough to drive me bonkers, but I couldn’t see a way around it unless I were to settle for discolored clothing.
Then Purex® No Sort™ for Colors came into my life and now “The Rules Have Changed” drastically.
My piles went
Now that’s #LaundrySimplified! Purex® No Sort™ for Colors cut my work load in half, and thus I had oodles of extra hours on a day that I typically don’t have enough in which to get things done.
Purex® No Sort™ for Colors has Anti-Color-Transfer Technology which traps loose dyes in the wash and doesn’t allow them settle onto other fabrics, thus preventing color bleeding. This means less sorting and fewer loads! Say what?! I’m all over that!
But I must admit that I still nearly had a panic attack while throwing black clothing into the washer with my daughter’s bright yellow T-shirt and pretty pink swimsuit (deep breaths ensued)….that is, until I pulled them out and conducted an inspection, like I usually do, to make sure that the colors had not dulled and no stains stuck around.
Well, see for yourself! How did it do?
I approved wholeheartedly!
I think the colors are as bold and vibrant as ever! And my daughter’s cute swimsuit is still pink! I was relieved, elated, and then gladly converted to the wild side where sorting is unnecessary and laundry day means extra time to bake!
Please note that, as the back product label states, “Purex® No Sort™ detergent is packed with innovation, but it can’t perform miracles, so please follow these words of advice: wash strongly colored fabrics or new pieces of clothing, especially jeans, separately at least 5 times before doing a mixed color load with Purex® No Sort™ detergent.”
