This bright, cheery room went through a revamp and remodel and is now the perfect space for a teenage girl!
A while back, I shared my parent’s amazing kitchen remodel story. They’re slowly updating and refreshing the rooms in their 20-year-old home, and my teenage sister’s space was next on their “to conquer” list.
My parents of course forgot to take a before photo, but just imagine butter yellow walls (nothing wrong with that), peeling vinyl lettering, a very old metal bunk bed (ahhhh the memories), mildew-caked windowsills, and just when you thought it couldn’t get much worse, stained grey carpet (eeewww). The room was previously occupied by my very youngest sisters, but they were relocated downstairs to a bigger room that was freed up because my other sister just left to serve a mission for our church.
My dad built the window seat that also acts as a dresser with built-in drawers. My grandma sewed the cushion and pillows on top. The carpet is new as well.
My dad built and painted the headboard (color: Mariner by Sherwin Williams (#6766)) and my mom purchased the fun bedding at Target. I love the contrast of the red against the blue, don’t you?
The frames are painted the same color as the headboard and window seat.
The walls are painted in Waterfall by Sherwin Williams (#SW6750). They decided to throw in another pop of color with the closet doors in Lively Yellow by Sherwin Williams (SW6702).
My jaw literally dropped when my parents sent me these photos. I wish you could see what it looked like before! The room underwent a huge transformation and I must admit I’m a little envious that I didn’t have something similar growing up. I’m nothing but happy for my sister, though. It’s so vibrant and fresh and she loves having a cute space that she can call her own.
