Christmas Monster Cookies

I’ve baked up the ultimate Monster Cookie in Christmas form, and I can’t wait to share it with you today!  I wish I could really share them (we’re talking reach across the screen with a handful just for you…because you know I’d do it if I could…), but the pictures will have to suffice and tempt until you can make your own. 🙂
I made these for a Christmas Music Recital that I hosted at my house not long ago.  I have five very sweet and talented piano and violin students whom I just love teaching.  Every early December, we have a recital where they get to showcase what they’ve learned for their very proud friends and family.  Just another reason why I heart this time of year.
After the students perform their instrumental masterpieces, we dig into festive desserts and eat to our heart’s content while chatting and laughing with friends.  These Christmas Monster Cookies made a debut this time around.

I always wondered why they were called Monster Cookies, but my explanation is that they consist of a monstrous list of all-too-yummy ingredients that are deliciously combined to form a single confection that will knock your socks off and leave you wanting for more.

M&M’s and holiday red and green chocolate chips are thrown into a heavenly cookie dough and formed into magical balls that are baked into a dreamy, chewy handheld treat for all to enjoy.

Grab a stack and chase ’em down with a glass of cold milk!  I love these because you can interchange the festive chocolate candies and holiday baking chips, depending on the holiday.

Totally delightful!  I’ll be making more of these soon.

{CHRISTMAS MONSTER COOKIES}
1 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
2 t. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 1/2 c. oatmeal (not instant)
1 c. chopped walnuts (optional)
1 c. Holiday Baking Chips
Red & Green Chocolate Candies for topping

In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla.  In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, salt and oatmeal.  Add dry to wet ingredients and mix until combined.

Roll into balls and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit on lightly greased cookie sheets for 8 to 10 minutes.  Remove from oven and immediately press chocolate candies into tops of cookies.  Let sit on sheets for a few minutes, then remove to cooling racks.

What a mouthwatering sight!
These Monster Cookies are sure to please your holiday party guests!
