DIY Holiday Window Treat Bag

This post brought to you by Duck Brand provided by ShurTech Brands, LLC. All opinions are 100% mine.

‘Tis the season for giving!  Every December, a few weeks before Christmas, I spend a full day baking goodies to give to neighbors and church friends.  It’s one of my favorite holiday traditions.  The chocolate cookie sandwiches, mint fudge, dipped pretzels smothered in nuts and sprinkles…aaahhhh…I can’t wait to begin the fun this year.  My kitchen is always quite the sight by day’s end with flour powdering the counter tops and cupboards, a confetti of sprinkles on the table and floor, and rogue bits of dried chocolate and frosting spewed everywhere.
I wouldn’t have it any other way, though.  To me, homemade Christmas treats are the best!  I enjoy receiving store-bought yummies as well, but a handmade gift is straight-from-the-heart and really says, “I care”.
What better way to package lovingly-made sweet treasures than in a holiday-patterned gift bag created by you?  I love that these include a window to show off the delectable M&M Monster Cookies that are held within.  Bob and Sue next door won’t be able to resist opening it and digging in immediately!
You’d never know, but these fun and festive gifts began as a simple brown paper lunch bag!  The transformation begins as it is covered in festive-patterned  EZ Start Printed Packaging Tape, given a cellophane window, then tied up with string for a perfectly simple, yet pretty finish.

This is a quick project from start to finish, so don’t be intimidated by the steps below.  Each one is a breeze!  Everyone-crafty or not-can easily make this!
{MATERIALS}
EZ Start Printed Packaging Tape (available in two fun holiday patterns…Peppermint and Ornaments!)
Brown Paper Bags
Baker’s Twine or ribbon
hole punch & scissors
Cellophane wrap

Start by fully covering the front of your bag with strips of EZ-Start® Packaging Tape in the pattern of your choice. Be sure to overlap the strips so there are no gaps.

Now turn it over and trim off the excess around the edges.

With the bag on this side…

fold down the bottom.

Now cover the entire side with strips of EZ-Start® Packaging Tape.  I love that it has the nice serrated edge for easy start and quick, clean cutting.  It really is frustration-free!  Next, trim off the excess around the edges again.

Now we’re going to cover the sides.

Press down your bag so the sides that you’re going to cover are laying flat.

Cover with strips of tape.  Then trim off the excess again at the edges.

I didn’t bother to cover the bottom because it won’t be seen.

To make the circular window, grab a stencil or a cup and trace a circle just below the center of your bag.  I also made one in a star shape.  Cut a square piece of cellophane that’s a little larger than your shape cut-out.  Secure with tape inside the bag.

Repeat this process using another fun pattern! Aren’t they fun? It’s amazing what can be done with a few inexpensive supplies.  Now fill them with pretty cookies or other goodies and give to neighbors, friends and loved ones!  They’re sure to be impressed!
Duck® brand EZ-Start® Packaging Tape can also help you wrap gifts and ship packages in style!  But that’s not all.  Keep a few rolls of Peppermint and Ornament-printed cuteness handy for your crafting needs, too, this holiday season!  The possibilities are endless.  I can totally picture some one-of-a-kind gift tags using this pretty tape. Look for the Daisy and Paisley everyday designs as well!
Feel free to create your own #EZStart project and pin it to Pinterest for others to use as inspiration! I’d love to see what you come up with!
Happy Crafting and Gifting!
