This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Dollar General. All opinions are 100% mine.
Are you ready for intense? I hope so, because today’s duel between Dollar General and national brand cleaners will certainly be that!
Have you started Spring Cleaning yet? I’ve been in winter mode up until about a week ago, and then I pulled out the checklist and began the top to bottom cleansing of my house. To me, it’s actually quite satisfying watching the dust, dirt and grime buildup leave and sparkly surfaces show their faces once more. You can probably relate. Looks aside, there’s nothing I love more than the smell of clean!
This time around, Dollar General challenged me to pit their store brand cleaners up against national brands to see if they could pass my (rather rigorous) test. Since I love a good brand face off, I eagerly agreed, and I approached it completely unbiased, my interest genuinely peaked.
Up until this point, I was very loyal to my specific cleaning brands because stains have no place in my home. You might say I’m a little OCD. 🙂 Call it what you may, but I just find so much comfort in tidy-ness, which doesn’t happen often with three messy kids. When it does, however, I treasure the moment.
Back to today’s critical match.
Which will win? Dollar General or national brands? Who are you rooting for? Feel free to place your bets now!
Let’s put the players in the ring and watch them battle it out.
The first task? This very messy, nasty bathroom sink that I’m almost too embarrassed to show you. My weapons were a Dollar General Scour Sponge, the Dollar General All-Purpose Lavendar Cleaner vs. a name-brand equivalent cleaner, each being used for half.
Here’s the sink post face off. Can you see a difference? I certainly can’t! I’ll let you in on a little secret, though. The Dollar General cleaner was used on the right half. There was definitely a clear winner when I took into account the amount of elbow grease and time it took to clean each portion. Can you guess which one triumphed? The Dollar General All-Purpose Cleaner! In all honesty, it did the job amazingly and it smelled much better as well! I’m totally impressed, how about you?
The score is now 1 and 0, in favor of Dollar General.
Next up was a brawl between the Dollar General Deodorizing Toilet Bowl Cleaner and a national brand used for the same purpose. Once again, can you declare a winner? I called it a tie. They both did exactly the same great work with the same amount of scrubbing. I used Dollar General Deodorizing Toilet Bowl Cleaner on the right and a national brand on the left.
So just a quick recap…Dollar General’s still in the lead!
The last dispute involved Dollar General Disinfectant wipes against a national brand of cleaning wipes, each used for half of the area shown. The hinges always seem to leave a greasy residue on the door. Cleaning wipes were the perfect tool for this. Once again, I’d have to call it a draw!
Now for the final credits and the big announcement you’ve all been waiting for.
I owe a huge thank you to my adorably sweet little shadow for sticking around to cheer the players on and for making the match a bit trickier to accomplish while she was at it. 🙂
The champion of today’s rivalry was….drum roll please…Dollar General (insert applause)!
I have to admit that I was very pleasantly surprised. A big congratulations to the winner! Move over national brands, because I’ve found new best friends in cleaners!
Be sure to visit Dollar General for all your spring cleaning needs at fantastic prices, and shop with confidence, because now there’s proof that they rock!
