Reader Submission: “Owl” Themed First Birthday Party

I’m so excited to share my first party submission with you today!  It comes from Dani, (check out her fun craft blog!) who threw this adorable owl-themed party for her sweet baby’s first birthday.  It is so perfect!  She thought of everything and the details show it.
Here it is in her words:
—
I threw an “owl” themed first birthday party for my baby girl back in October.  Being a first-time-Mom and having never thrown a birthday party on my own before, I turned to Pinterest for basically all of my  inspiration.  I’m pretty good at putting things together, but not really great at coming up with original ideas, so Pinterest is one of my best friends when it comes to stuff like this.
Here are a few of the details of the party, inspired by Pinterest.  Click on each photo to go to my original Pinterest pin.
NOTE: (The photos on the left are from Pinterest, the photos on the right are my twist on them.)
Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats

The Invitations (this was before I wrote the info about the party on them so mine have no words).

The Punch

The Food Table–burlap tablecloths really added to my “fall” decor for the party.  I did colored burlap, though.

Owl Sugar Cookies (these are made with a tulip-shaped cookie cutter).

The Cake.  I used lots of different cakes on Pinterest for inspiration on this one, but the ending result looks the most similar to this Baby Shower cake that I pinned.

Party Favor bags

“A Year in Pictures.”  I wanted to post multiple photos from each month–a close-up of her face, etc. so I ended up hanging them vertically from my ceiling with three pictures from each of the twelve months.  I loved this part so much, I left the pictures up through Thanksgiving–over a month after the party was over!  Also, I couldn’t find clothespins anywhere!  So weird, since I’ve seen them a million places since I threw the party. 🙂

Owl Pinata.  I considered making my own, but ended up buying that orange one from Party City.  Saved me lots of time.  Also, now that I’m looking at my “pinspiration” for this one, it looks like that owl pinata is also store-bought, so I don’t have to feel guilty for not being ambitious enough on that one.

 “Cake Smash” photo shoot

So there you have it!  The most Pinterest-inspired day of my life thus far.  Thanks for letting me share, Christine!
