These Reindeer Donut Treats are sure to bring smiles at your kids’ class parties and holiday gatherings!
Last month I made these Turkey Donut Treats for Thanksgiving and they were such a big hit that I thought I’d use the mini chocolate donuts to create a different Christmas time dessert. These little Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeers are perfect for special after school snacks and holiday celebration platters!
I made 20 of them for my son’s class party at school. They were having elf day and everyone was asked to bring in a mini food item to share.
Knowing that I’d have to produce whatever I chose to make in bulk, I knew it needed to be simple, but I also wanted it to be cute and festive for the season! Everyone loves Rudolph, so I grabbed some mini chocolate donuts, some pretzels, candy eyes, caramel-filled chocolates and red hot candies for the nose. I knew these would be a hit with the kids in the first grade class and my son reported afterwards that the kids were so excited when they saw them and couldn’t wait to start the party at the end of the day.
I just can’t get over how cute they are! I’m a huge fan of the fact that they didn’t require any baking, since the oven is already being used at full capacity this time of year.
There are so many Christmas movies that my kids and I just have to see before this season’s over, but one of them is Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. It’s a childhood classic! And the message of acceptance despite differences and individual worth makes it a great one for teaching values to kids.
It would be so fun to serve these treats as part of a Christmas movie watching party with the kiddos! They are a breeze to put together! I’ll show you how.
{SUPPLIES}
Mini Chocolate Donuts
Caramel-filled Chocolate Candies
Red mini candies (I used red hots, but you could use red chocolate candies too)
Pretzels
Candy eyes
Decorator’s Icing
Assemble your supplies. Put a dot of icing on the back of a caramel chocolate candy and place it securely in the center of a mini chocolate donut. Now add a dot of icing to the back of your red candy and place it in the center of the chocolate candy. Add icing to the backs of your candy eyes and place above the nose. Carefully break or cut your pretzels in half and trim them so they look like horns. Insert them into the donut. That’s it!
These are sure to become a Christmas time tradition! Kids love to help decorate and eat these little reindeer donuts! 🙂
Enjoy!
