Spring Cleaning/ Organizing Tips with Printable Checklist

My house is in great need of some tender loving care in the deep cleaning department, so I wanted to share some very helpful tips that I’ve gotten from my readers and also found on Pinterest.One of my faithful readers, Alicia, shared this great idea for laundry room organization.  She bought an over-the-door shoe rack at Target and then devoted only 20 minutes to freeing up space and putting all her cleaners/supplies in place.  It looks fantastic!

Easy Living Mom offers some great tips on how to de-clutter your house, including what to do with those kids’ clothes that they’ve not quite grown into and/or just grown out of…so helpful!

I received a tip from one of my oh-so-kind readers that the foaming carpet cleaner works wonders on tile grout. I put it to the test myself.  Here’s my verdict.  It picks up the dirt, spots, and grime really well!  The foam changed from white to grey-ish as I was scrubbing.   It was quite satisfying.  I was down on hands and knees with a toothbrush, though, so I probably won’t clean my entire floor with it unless I decide to invest in a tile cleaner or unless I get a crazy burst of energy and ambition.  But it really does work nicely and I will be using it as my go-to spot treatment for my grout (in addition to my carpet) from here on out.

Here’s a section of tile in my kitchen.  Can you tell where I cleaned?  I sure can.  The dark vertical line on the very left is the original grout and the lighter grout to the right of that was “Resolved”!  It does a great job.

If you are a list person like me, here’s a great printable spring cleaning checklist from Vertex42.
I have yet to find a good solution for that annoying mold that grows under the caulk in the shower.  I’ve tried Tilex, straight bleach, you name it.  Do you have any suggestions, other than re-caulking? 🙂
There are so many great organization/cleaning ideas on Pinterest!  I hope you’ll put some of these to the test while you’re spring cleaning/organizing. I’m going to.

  3. OMG! I can't stand the sight of mold! Have you tried using natural cleaning products? If not, then try vinegar. Believe it or not, but it can really do wonders. Spray it on the mold and leave it for a few minutes. You can either wipe or brush it afterwards and be amazed at how it can remove the mold.

  4. Just after washing carpeting, keep up normal schedule servicing on them to keep them looking for in best condition. This includes vacuum cleaning, making sure that you avoid discoloration by developing some recommendations, like as no food items and beverages on the carpeting and dealing with areas or leaking immediately with identify washing methods.carpet cleaning tips

  5. Thanks for sharing that checklist, Christine! For sure, it would make cleaning day easier and stress-free. And it really feels great when your home is clean and neat. Anyway, if you are having some trouble with slimy molds in your shower, it’s best if you let your solution stand for a several minutes before scrubbing it. Doing so will soften the adhesion of the molds to the tiles and grout, making it easier for you to brush them away.
