I mentioned last week that my son is obsessed with superheros. Little boys are so fun! He tells us often how he wants to be Batman when he grows up. How cool would that be? I would be one proud mom. 🙂
It’s always a highlight of my day watching his imagination run wild. He suits up (changes capes and masks) about a zillion times each day. He flies (jumps from couches and beds), he re-fuels (scarfs down crackers for a quick snack), and occasionally crashes (drops in place and involuntarily succumbs to sleep). Superheroes need “power” naps too. Where do you think all those muscles come from?
But when he’s awake, in true superhero fashion, he’s a certified go-getter! After all, the world isn’t going to save itself. 🙂
So I wanted to come up with some cute decor for his room that would capture this fun phase of life that he’s in right now. Nations Photo Lab made it happen.
I gathered some of my favorite photos of him in superhero attire and put together a floating gallery block in the theme of “A Day in the Life of a Superhero”.
I love how the images really pop and the comic book background perfectly plays into the overall effect. The image wrapping adds a unique component as well!
{HERE’S HOW I ACHIEVED THIS SUPERHERO WALL DISPLAY}:
- Edit photos to give them a comic book look (I did this in Picasa, but PicMonkey is great too if you’re going for free)
- Head to Nations Photo Lab and download ROES (their ordering program). If you’ve already got ROES on your computer, call it up and add your pictures. Then arrange them in a floating gallery block in a way that they tell a story (I used the Showoff template). If you have any questions throughout the process, their customer support via Live Chat are so helpful!
- Select a background from those offered or add your own. I did an online search for “superhero wallpaper”, selected the perfect one, then re-positioned it until it was to my liking.
- Add the completed design to your cart, check out and wait for the exciting package to arrive at your door!
- Next, I made a sign using a scrap piece of wood laying around in my garage. Just sand, paint (I used Lemon Custard by FolkArt), then add vinyl. Apply decorative knobs if you’d like (I found my star knobs at Hobby Lobby). We used a Dremel to make indents for the knobs, then super glued them inside. I purchased the vinyl call-out designs from the Silhouette online store. I used the “Mensch” font for “A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A” and then the “American Purpose Casual” font for “SUPERHERO”.
Ta da! My son can’t get over how “awesome” the room is now. 🙂 Every little boy deserves a space like this.
The gallery block is solidly built and is sure to last a life-time. So my son can pass it down to his own little superhero in the future. 🙂
I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out, and now we have a perfect wall display to commemorate this fun chapter of life. Because I’d hate to forget how cute he looked all suited up in Batman attire. 🙂If you’d like to create a floating gallery block or experience the wonder of Nations Photo Lab in some other way, you’re in luck!
