18+ Fun Thanksgiving Traditions for Kids

Other than feasting, we don’t have too many Thanksgiving traditions in our home yet.  I’m hoping to start some this year, especially since my kids are a little older and can understand the meaning of holidays now.  I really want to focus on teaching my kids to recognize our many blessings.  I love that we have a month devoted to recognizing how much we have and giving thanks for all we’ve been given in life.
Here’s some fun ideas to get kids excited about Thanksgiving and to keep them happily occupied on “Turkey Day”.
Place Setting Candy Turkeys from Our Best Bites
I made these last year and they were a hit!  So cute and tasty too!
Memory/Gratitude Book from Tater Tots and Jello
I want to start a fun tradition like this, this year.  Nothing like photos of family and friends to help us realize how blessed we are.

Candy-Filled Turkey Favors from Crystal B.
These would be really easy to make and would add lots of fun color to the kids’ table!
Individual-Sized Pies for the kids at Yum Food and Fun
What children wouldn’t love their very own pie on Thanksgiving?

Blessings Jar from The Frugal Girls
Have all your Thanksgiving guests (young and old) write one blessing they have been thankful for over the year.  Then read them aloud together after dinner.

Turkey Krispies Treats from I Dig Pinterest

Gratitude Turkeys from Little Family Fun
Some colored paper, glue and googly eyes are all you need to make this fun kids’ turkey craft!

Pretty Thanksgiving Tree from Sand and Sisal
Have the kids (and adults) write one thing they’re thankful for on each leaf.  Then hang on the tree.
This would make a beautiful table centerpiece!

Give Thanks Pocket Board from Jelly Bean Junkyard
Write a short thankful message on each paper and slip them into the envelopes.
Free Thankful Banner Download from Carina Gardner
I made this banner with my kids a few years ago.  We laminated ours and they write new things each time with dry-erase markers.

 Pie/Thankful Spinner from Parents.com
Grab a paper plate and some Cardstock and make a thankful pie that the kids can spin to reveal what they’re grateful for under each “piece”.
Pilgrim’s Hat Cookies from Woman’s Day
These are so simple and cute!

 Thankful Tree from Bargain Bound
The kids can write something they’re thankful for on each leaf and put one or two up each day throughout the month of November.
Waffle/Sugar Cone Cornucopia Favors from Make Life Delicious
How fun are these mini edible cornucopias?

Give Thanks Pine Cone Turkeys from Creating Couture Parties
Such cute little “Toms”.  I love that the feathers are things the kids are thankful for.  These would make great place settings at the table too!

Thankful Chain from Life at 7000 Feet
Every day in November the kids can write one thing they’re thankful for and add the link to the chain.  Keep it going over the years!

Turkey Bowling from Parent Map
Such a creative idea!

Thanksgiving Bingo from The Crafting Chicks
Kids just LOVE bingo, so I’m sure they’d have a blast playing a few rounds of this after dinner!

Do you have any fun traditions that you do with your kids on Thanksgiving? I’d love to hear!

Thanks for the round-up Christine, this is my K's first Thanksgiving so we probably won't do much in terms of traditions but I'll have to start thinking about next year. Thanks for sharing on the weekend re-Treat link party!
