DIY Workout Incentives Station

Everyone needs a little something to look forward to after a good, hard workout, so I created this incentive station with goodnessknows® snack squares for just this purpose!

You may have seen on Instagram that I had a sweet baby boy two months ago.  It’s amazing how much love we can have for a sweet little bundle who keeps us up all night! Ha! 🙂  He has loads of red hair and the deepest blue eyes that I could just stare into all day!  His cry is still cute to me, even during the wee hours.  We are all totally smitten by this little guy. When I was nearing the end of my pregnancy and feeling especially eager to be done, I set a goal to get active and be ready for another 5k race by the end of the year.  For me, concrete goals are the only way to get back in shape.

So when I hit six weeks postpartum I laced up my running shoes and set out to conquer the monstrous hill by my house.  It doesn’t look so steep, but trust me, when you’re on it, it’s a beast!  🙂

Though the view was gorgeous and almost a distraction from my breathless gasps, needless to say, I came back feeling completely exhausted and discouraged at my fitness level, or serious lack thereof.

The next evening when it was time to hit the hill again, memories of the previous day came flooding back and made me want to stay in and lounge on the couch instead.  🙂

So because I’m a very reward-driven person, I decided to come up with a system to get myself back in gear.  I needed a sure-fire method of motivation and this was it.

I went to Walmart and grabbed a bunch of goodnessknows® Cranberry, Almond, Dark Chocolate and goodnessknows® Apple, Almond & Peanut, Dark Chocolate snack squares to use as a reward after my regular workouts. They’re also available in Peach & Cherry, Almond, Dark Chocolate. In other words, I’m using goodness to hopefully help me achieve greatness in my fitness goals.  🙂

They’re easily and conveniently found in the checkout lane, near the register.  Oh, and by the way, you can share your goodnessknows® photo or quote for a chance to win a variety of fitness prizes in the Try a Little Goodness Sweepstakes!  How cool is that?!
#tryalittlegoodnesssweepstakes
And because I love to share the goodness with my wonderful readers, HERE’S a great coupon for when you grab some yummy goodnessknows®!
Let me tell you in case you’re unaware, goodnessknows® snack squares are basically little bites of nutty, dark chocolate, real fruity incredibleness. I’ll gladly take on that hill again if it means one of these!  Hey, I bribe my kids all the time, so why not do the same for myself, especially with such a worthy cause?  🙂
To make this simple chalkboard incentive station, I gathered a clipboard, eight clothespins, some chalkboard paint and a foam brush, chalk marker, and my goodnessknows® snack squares.
Start by painting your chalkboard paint all one direction on the board and letting it dry completely.  Then, paint in the other direction to achieve full coverage.  Let dry.
Clip your clothespins onto the snack squares and then hot glue the clothespins onto your board.  Label your board with a title, the day numbers and include a place to note how you feel afterwards.  Notice I didn’t feel great after day 1, but things slowly got better. 🙂  You know how it is when you are just getting back to the grind after not working out in ages.  Those first few days are killer!
At this point, with a very little one, I’m going to call it a huge success if I get four workouts in a week.  And you better believe I’ll be collecting my prize after each workout.  Because I’ve earned it in sweat and tears! 🙂
I’m really hoping this will help me stay on track!  Wish me luck! What is your favorite goodnessknows® snack square flavor?  I’d love to hear in the comments section below!  I’d also really enjoy hearing about your tips for success when beginning a workout plan. Because, let’s face it, I need all the help I can get! 🙂
