Apple Slices topped with yogurt, fruit, sunflower seeds, granola bars and mixed nuts make a great afternoon snack or light breakfast! I like to call them Apple Pizzas!
We’re officially back into the swing of things as far as our school routine goes with the kids. The first week home after returning from vacation is tough on everyone! Doing homework again can sometimes cause complaints and the early mornings take some getting used to.
January is not always the most exciting month after coming out of December, so one thing that I like to do to give the kids something to look forward to when they walk in the door is to offer them fun, surprise snacks! Apple Pizzas are easy to make, wholesome and so smile-worthy! They’re kid and adult approved! Speaking from experience, here. We give them two thumbs way up!
I especially love when our afternoon yummies help us earn Box Tops for their school! We collect Box Tops religiously because we know how much every little bit counts when it comes to the education of our children. We have a little can where we drop them and when it’s full, the kids get so excited to present them to their teachers.
My son told me a while ago that his classroom earned a new learning laptop as a result of Box Top funds. They really do help and go to such a great cause!
Which is exactly why I like to look for products, like those above, that contain Box Tops, when I’m doing my weekly grocery shopping at Walmart.
I picked up some Honey Nut Cheerios™ – Family Size, Yoplait® Original Fridge Pack – 4 Strawberry / 4 Harvest Peach, Nature Valley™, Oats N Honey Granola Bars – Value Pack 24 ct., Totino’s™ Combination Pizza Party Pack and an Old El Paso™ Taco Dinner Kit. We’re really racking up those Box Tops!
The kids’ school is even having a Box Tops competition between all the classes. We love a good opportunity to win, especially when it means helping their school. 🙂
Did you know there’s actually a new Box Tops for Education® Bonus App where you can earn even more cash to help your school get what it needs? You can turn that receipt into money for your child’s school! How cool is that?!
You can earn Bonus Box Tops in the Box Tops Bonus App in combination with the on-pack Box Tops clips and any other coupon, discount, store program or promotion.
Look for Box Tops on products like those shown above. Buy 5 participating items + Scan receipt with Box Tops Bonus App = Earn $5 (50 Bonus Box Tops) *Offer available through 1/31/18.
Simply find offers, buy products, scan your receipt, then watch your earnings stack up! Download the app on iTunes or Google Play.
Now, I’m feeling hungry, so without further ado, here’s how to put together these easy and scrumptious Apple Pizzas!
Clean and slice your apple in half the short way (not up and down, but side to side, if that makes sense). Now slice each of those sections into rounds with about 1/4″ thickness. Mine yielded about four rounds of ideal size. Of course enjoy the rest of the apple! I’d hate for any to go to waste.
Now spread each round with a few teaspoons of Yoplait® Strawberry Yogurt. Sprinkle with diced strawberries, whole blueberries, mixed nuts (I used cashews and almonds), sunflower seeds, then top with crumbled Nature Valley™ Oats N Honey Granola Bars.
This is the kind of snack kids beg for and moms happily hand over. 🙂
