Cake Pop Teacher Appreciation Gift

Looking for teacher appreciation gift ideas?I have been lately.

Here’s a super simple one.  I’ll share another easy gift idea tomorrow.

{MATERIALS}

Close-able glass jar (Slightly bigger than pint sized.  Mine is from the Dollar Tree)
Decorative Floss
Chalkboard vinyl (I’ll tell you how to make your own below) or printed paper label
Chalkboard marker
Scalloped Scissors (optional)
Cake Pops
  1. Make your cake pops (directions below) and fill the jar with them.
  2. Tie the jar with some decorative floss, ribbon, jute, or whatever other cute thing you come up with.
  3. Spray a piece of regular Silhouette vinyl (any color) with chalkboard spray paint, then let it dry.
  4. Cut a label (with scalloped scissors, if you’d like) out of the chalkboard vinyl for the top of the jar. Or just make a label in a Word document, print, and cut out.
  5. Write the sentiment on the vinyl using a chalkboard marker.
  6. Adhere the label to the top of the jar and you’re done!
Easy peasy, and the teachers are sure to love ’em!
{HOW TO MAKE CAKE POPS}
  1. Make and bake a boxed cake according to package directions.
  2. Let cool completely.
  3. Crumble the cake very finely into a big bowl.
  4. Add a cup of homemade or store-bought frosting from the container, and mix into the cake crumbs with your hands.  You want the crumbs to be moistened with it, but not too wet and gooey.
  5. Form the dough into balls and place on a waxed sheet of paper on a cookie sheet or in a cake pan.
  6. Let harden, covered, in the freezer for about half an hour.  (You just don’t want them to be soft, or they’ll fall apart when you dip them in the warm candy melts).
  7. Melt a few candy melts in the microwave. (I use the Wilton Candy Melts).
  8. Dip just the ends of the sucker sticks into the candy melts and insert into the cake balls about halfway.  This ensures a good bond, so your cake pops won’t fall off when you dip the entire thing.
  9. Allow to set.  You may need to put your cake pops back into the freezer for 5 or ten minutes at this point, so they don’t soften too much before you dip them.
  10. Melt more candy melts in a deep tall, microwave-safe container.  I use a glass cocoa mug.
  11. Dip cake pops into melts until covered and get excess candy covering off by tapping the wrist that of the hand that is holding the pop, gently, with your other hand.
  12. Place on waxed paper and let set.  Do not freeze or refrigerate at this point.

    How sweet - I have never made cake pops. Eaten them, yes - made them, no. A great idea to gift them in a jar!!

    I made so many cake pops a few years ago, I can't look at them anymore but I think it would be a cute teacher's gift. Take care, Linda

    I have actually never made cake pops. I am behind the times I know. They are so fun and this is a fabulous idea for teacher appreciation. Lots of color and a perfect sugar rush for those stressful moments :) Thank you so much for linking this up with me @ Great Idea Thursday's! Krista @ A Handful of Everything
