Toys are a great way to start fun traditions with kids and the holidays are a perfect time to do it!
My husband has fond memories, growing up, of playing with his brothers and their new toys on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They’d run around the house for hours in their pajamas, making “vroom” and “pow, pow” noises all in good fun.
We want to continue the feeling of closeness and the sibling bonds that form through simple, imaginative play in our home.
So, in that same spirit, we too stay in our comfy pj’s all day on Christmas after opening Santa gifts, and let the kids run around and just play to their heart’s content. I love it when there’s nowhere to go and nothing pressing to do! The familiar line from a Christmas carol rings so true to me, “…and since there’s no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!”
We’re definitely hoping for lots of the white stuff around here for the holidays, because it’s a great excuse to stay indoors and control this new beauty!
My husband picked up the coolest toy the other day for my son. He was ecstatic, and when I say he I mean both of them. 🙂 They’re total Star Wars fans, so when they heard that Spin Master’s Air Hogs was making Star Wars versions, they bolted to the toy store.
They can’t wait to see Star Wars in theaters very soon, but in the meantime, they’ll get their fix through this Zero-Gravity X-Wing Star Fighter!
My son thought it was out-of-this-world amazing that it could drive on the window.
He worked the controls while his dad called commands from behind. 🙂
And then they gave it a go on the wall and it drove like a champ!
The ceiling was no biggie for it too! As long as the surface is smooth, it is ready for battle! Toys really are a great way to build healthy sibling relationships and create memories to last a lifetime. Since we have four kids, they certainly learn important lessons of sharing when there’s only one new toy between all of them. 🙂
