I used to love playing Don’t Eat Pete with my siblings growing up. It’s such a perfect game for kids. Eating tiny sweets in large quantities, the suspense of not knowing which one is Pete…it’s all too fun! So I wanted to create an Easter version of the game called “Don’t Eat Peter Cottontail” with cute little bunnies, of course!
Aren’t they adorable? We decided to use “bunny tails” (or mini white marshmallows) as bait. 🙂
We had an absolute blast playing this together. The kids ended up on a sugar high. 🙂 But we’re making memories, right? My first introduction to this game was at my aunt’s house for a sleepover with my siblings. From then on, we would beg her to invite us over more often so we could play it. I’m pretty sure it was our entertainment for the entire evening before we turned into our tents in her back yard. And we still couldn’t stop thinking about it and dreaming of playing it the next morning. Kids literally never tire of it! Ha!
My kids have been begging to get a real fluffy bunny of their own. I’m still resisting the idea of a pet because I feel like 3 kiddos keep my plate more than full. But they know I’m a softy, so they’re hoping by being persistent that I’ll cave.
We’ll see who’s the strong one this time. 🙂
Anyway, this cute printable comes in an 8×10″, and then I just trimmed the white around the edges. This would also be a great Easter basket stuffer!

How to play the game: Place a treat on each square. One child leaves the room while the rest of the players select one bunny on the board to be “Peter Cottontail”. Invite the child back in and he or she gets to start eating the treats, one at a time. When he touches the one on “Peter Cottontail”, everyone yells, “Don’t eat Peter Cottonail” and the turn is over. The object is to eat as many treats as you can before choosing Peter Cottontail. This can mean eating none or eight, in this case!

I have fond memories from my childhood of reading and watching The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. This game reminds me of those fun times.
