Halloween Party Drink: Worm-Infested Goblin’s Blood

I know it’s still September, but I’m getting SO eager for Halloween time.  We have lots of fun family traditions that take part next month, including our annual trip to the pumpkin patch, corn mazes, pumpkin carving, trunk-or-treating, and of course a few Halloween parties.  So in honor of upcoming celebrations for the spooky holiday, I’m sharing a fun drink that I hope you’ll cringe at, at first (that’s the point, hehe), but not hesitate to serve.  🙂
I never knew goblin’s blood and worms could taste so phenomenal!  It’s sure to be a show-stopper at your Halloween party…not only because of the catchy (gross-you-out) title, but also because it’s so yummy (if you dare to try it)!
When I told my kids that I was making “Worm-Infest Goblin’s Blood”, their faces grimaced, but when I soon explained that the worms and blood weren’t real, they were willing to give it a whirl and they kept asking for more.
To the adventurous, the icky name will peak interests and pose a gutsy challenge.  The weaker-stomached guests may need a little more convincing, however, before going bottoms up with it, but just be sure to let them in on the ingredient list and they won’t be able to resist. 🙂
A little fizzy kick, sweet orange/cherry flavors, and wriggly gummy worms
make this drink absolutely “spooktacular”!
{WORM-INFESTED
GOBLIN’S BLOOD DRINK}
2 cherry punch packets
2 c. sugar
1 (12 oz.) frozen orange juice from concentrate
1 Liter Sprite, refrigerated
1 pkg. gummy worms
Fill an ice tray with water.  Lay as many gummy worms in as you’d like.  I made sure that they were sticking out for a neat effect in the cup later on.  Stick in the freezer and let freeze completely.  For the drink, combine all ingredients in a large pitcher or bowl and stir well.  You may need to mash in the orange juice.
 IMPORTANT TIP: Add the ice cube worms in right before you serve the drinks because they take on a weird texture/flavor if they soak in too much liquid.  And they look their best fresh out of the freezer.
Now let the brave party people-young and old-enjoy a fun, delicious Halloween drink!
